Albanian town bids sorrowful farewell to Bush
Reuters ^

Posted on 01/20/2009 4:21:23 AM PST by nuconvert

FUSHE-KRUJE, Albania (Reuters) - At the "George W. Bush" cafe in this little Albanian town, owner Festim Cela gives a solemn reply when asked if it will change its name when the U.S. President leaves office Tuesday.

Many beyond U.S. shores may welcome the end of Bush's presidency, but in zealously pro-American Albania, he is feted as a hero.

"As long as this building stands, its name will be George W. Bush," Cela said as he watched television pictures of Bush's farewell speech the week before Barack Obama succeeds him.

Below the TV is a table where Bush sat to discuss a U.S.-funded micro-loan program with a baker, a barber, a tailor and a shepherd when he visited Fushe-Kruje on June 10, 2007.

The chairs bear a copper plate with names of Bush and his wife Laura.

People in Fushe-Kruje said they were sad to see him leave and cherished the memory of his visit.

-excerpt-

"Thank you Mr. Bush! Thank you U.S.A.! God Bless U.S. Semper Fidelis (Always Faithful)," wrote Agim Gashi.

While most Americans curently are glad to see the back of President George Bush I am very afraid that not too many years down the road those folks will look back with longing for the time when George Bush was President.
What’s the saying? Be careful what you wish for you just may get it..

Though I am REALLY down on muslims as a whole, most Albanians tend to be of a very different type. I met some of them when I was in Europe; They’re about as secular and laid back a people as you’ll find. They don’t go in for all the dogma. As a people who lived under one of the most repressive and reclusive dictatorships in the world, Albanians know what freedom vs. oppression is all about, and they tend like the freedom thing a whole lot more.

you need to understand that under decades of communist rule, all religion was suppressed — the mosques were bricked up as well as the churches — so that’s why they seem more “secular”.

Why am I not in the least surprised that dog vomit Albanian Mohammedans would regret the departure of Bush?

True, but my point is; they’re not “fire-in-the-eyes” mohammedans like so many other muslims.

Yeah, the Albanians are really big on public displays of affection for those who DO something for them, but don't expect loyalty.

Albanians showed their real colors when they supported the rip-off of $300M from American taxpayers in a Pentagon arms dealing scam and when four of their ilk tried to take out US soldiers at Fort Dix two years ago.

Kolokotronis said “dog-vomit”, not dogs. Please don’t insult dogs that way — my two noble canines are barking at your post — in protest of being associating with church-burning, drug-peddling, sex slavers who were lackeys of both the Ottoman Turks and Nazi Germany!

The Fort Dix miscreants are Kosovo Albanians, the most primitive and savage members of the Albanian nation. The Albanians in the article who miss Gorge W Bush seem to be from Albania proper.

I know a few Albanian-American Orthodox Christians who agree with me that Kosovo is Serbia, and with whom I exchange Pascha greetings. There are other Albanian-American Orthodox Christians, however, who support the savage Muhammadan KLA in the name of “Albanianism” (a form of dhimmitude, IMHO).

So Albanians are not all alike—they span the range from Orthodox brothers to useful idiots to jihadist murderers.

Exactly. Because they lived in a Stalinist hell for over 40 years, they appreciate what the US stands for.

There is another huge difference between Albania and Kosovo. Albania is mainly run by Tosks, whereas Kosovo is primarily Gheg. There is no love lost between these two tribes. That's why Albania wants no part of any union with Kosovo in a "Greater Albania."

You are absolutely right. Like I said before, I almost married one who was of the Orthodox variety.

But like with most cultures, Mohammedanism makes the Muslims ones nuts -- and the vast majority of them are Muslim. The rest are afraid of the Muslim majority, so publicly they go along with the aggressive Albanian Muslim agenda, however they might privately feel.

It's a canine sensitivity -- Muslims don't like dogs, and dogs don't like Albanian Muslims -- that's why dogs are man's best friend, they are often smarter than we are about certain things.

Yeah, for a lot of reasons that weren't about his heritage --which was only 1/4 Albanian.

The guy just couldn't keep his pants zipped, never saw a skirt he didn't like, and I was lucky enough to find that out sooner rather than later. I really cared for him, but I dumped him in a heartbeat when I found out.

Apparently, I was the only girl ever to do ever dump him for that-- and I did it publicly. He didn't speak to me for over twenty years for "embarrassing him" -- like the creep taking off from a party with another girl hadn't "embarrassed me"? (Moron!)

Anyway, 20 years later, even he admitted what a jerk he had been, but by then he had a string of ex-wives and kids, and had aged so badly that I wouldn't touch him with a ten foot pole even if I had been single, which I wasn't.

Yup, aside from having a shoe thrown at you, or showing you the sole of one, calling someone a dog, a donkey or a woman, is the worst of insults in Islam. One of the hadiths (like Islamic Acts) says that three things can invalidate a prayer, a donkey, a dog and a woman passing on front of someone praying...

That's one thing I noticed in Bosnia. The stray dogs local Muslims told us were "vicious" and "dangerous" were like puppies, greatful for even a kind word. WE pet them, fed, even treated their ete infections with ointments, and they guarded our compounds faithfully. But they groweld at every Muslim who passed by. When the command ordered all dogs shot for fear of rabis (nasty rumor probably spread by Muslims), all of us Americans refused to do that. No rabis has been reported. Dogs can tell. Man's best friend— Muslim's worst.

Sorry, as much as I try, I just don't have a racist bone in my body.

To me, someone's blood or lineage is no more to blame for their behavior than "poverty" or "poor family circumstances", though these things certainly have an influence on a person's perceptions.

"Culture" is another story -- it's the fishbowl someone is born into and determines what the person is taught is right and wrong -- and cultural values are usually created based on the religious values of that culture or country.

Albanians are a bit unique in that their religion is usually only skin deep -- they put it on and take it off depending on what's convenient.

"Christian rulers? No problem, we'll be Christians! What do we get for that?" "Muslim rulers? No problem, we'll be Muslims! Who do we have to kill for that?"

Unfortunately, this Albanian attitude is what passes at the moment for most Western sniff tests as "moderate Muslims" -- in short, Americans like Michael Totten haven't got a clue that Albanians are just "for sale" to the highest bidder. If at any point anyone else (including radical Saudis) are willing to pay a higher price, we are screwed!

Given that Obama is now president, your post may someday be true. But at the moment, I miss Bush about as much as I miss a bad head cold.

And you couldn't have found a more inappropriate thread to post this "fond farewell" on, if you tried. This was one of former President Bush's worst decisions -- one that already bit us in the butt at Ft. Dix, again in Georgia, and is likely to do so again in the coming years!

They are not for sale. That's the problem. They simply choose which side is more likely to win and cleave to it. They respect no one because anyone who trusts them is lower than they are. Their "love affair" lasts only as long as the customer is willing to pay and provide what they can't get themselves.

Once the tide turns, they go to someone else.

If at any point anyone else (including radical Saudis) are willing to pay a higher price, we are screwed!

It's not so much the price as much as what that side can get for them, what they need. They have money from racketeering and smuggling and sex slave trade, for which they are infamous in Europe.

Saudi Arabia is out of the picture because Saudis don't have the global reach of the US. No one does. Since Saudi Arabia could never accomplish what the US accomplished with NATO and economic embargo, Saudis were simply too weak for their "loyalty."

Today, America is training and arming and clothing and probably indirectly paying their newly formed military. It's all gratris, just for being Serbia's thorn.

If you can buy something then it's yours. Albanians don't fit that bill. They are yours only on loan (not even for hire because they don't want to do the work; they let the sponsor do everything). The moment they don't get what they want from the US, the moment the geopolitical balance shifts, they will look elsewhere.
