Fishermen and hunters are outraged about a plan tucked in the governor's proposed California budget to shift $30 million out of wildlife programs. Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger wants to borrow money from the Fish and Game Preservation Fund, which comes from hunting and fishing license fees, and use it to prop up other state programs.

We are going to see a lot of this, states trying to tap into the dedicated funds set aside for wildlife management. This is the third or fourth state I've read about this happening in in recent weeks.

These people must be genetically predisposed to lying, or going back on their word. It is a simple concept, set aside these funds for this purpose, end of story. Oh, no, wait, I'd really like to use those funds for something else, so...

It comes down to integrity, or the lack of it.

The same scumbags who are against hunting and fishing are ripping off the hunters and fishermen/fisherwomen.

I am confused - does this group not understand that CA is BK, and will default on payments as of 1 Feb?

The state is crashing, and they worry about the deck chairs?

This is actually getting funny. If CA has your money in some sort of bond or trust, write it off. They already stole it, spent it on crud, and left you broke.

Oops.

I bet the money is going to go to universal healthcare, “assistance” for illegals, or to some stupid education initiative.

I assume that the layabouts and illegals always get first dibs on any money in the Colleyforneeya budget. The hunters and fisherman who foot the bill for wildlife preservation programs with the highest fees in the nation can go pound sand. Of course, the state will pay the money back with interest by 2013 if they don’t go bankrupt.

Sacramento, Jan. 17. No more funds to tap. "We're Californians, we never use funds for their intended purposes," said a member of the Assembly. "Why should buildings be any different" . . . .

Please refrain from abusing the Activism sidebar. It’s for News/Activism of the FR chapters. Not this.

Thanks,

As a Californian, a question. We have a state run earthquake program. What is happening with those funds collected? Gone to the general fund? Same thing for tobacco fund- Meathead fund?

Sorry.

Won’t happen again.

I’m not even sure why I placed it there. Can it be moved?

LOL!

They’re going to repay it by 2013 with interest. Is that like someone telling you “the check’s in the mail?”

Probably not because when someone tells you the check’s in the mail there’s a slim chance it just may be.

Your correct in saying we’re going to see more of this. When politicians see money sitting somewhere they think they can get their grubby hands on, the laws don’t mean a thing to them.
