President-elect Barack Obama’s secretary of the interior nominee, Sen. Ken Salazar (D-Colo.), said he will consider restoring parts of an expired federal ban on offshore oil drilling, but told CNSNews.com that he has “no idea” how much of the drilling restrictions should be reimposed.

Salazar has had no idea about anything his entire public life. He just follows the dem herd while claiming he has an independent streak (which the morons here in CO actually believe).

a) Dismantle Bush's entire security and intelligence apparatus

b) No new energy from domestic supplies of coal, oil, natural gas, or nuclear.

c) Over burden the system with yearly $1 trillion plus budget deficits.

d) Increase the welfare rolls.

Yep! A capitailitic-hating radicals wet dream to bring the entire USA to its knees!

He could stop right there because he hasn’t a clue.

Can’t someone put a crayon chart in front of these people? As soon as we started drill here/drill now talk, prices started coming back down

Yea, because we all know how totally unhelpful and wildly unpopular that $1.60 a gallon gas has been.

Of course people who are already receiving $600-$700 and $1000 monthly bills for heat- are going to be fully sympathetic to democrats and bureacrats strangling the US energy industry.

s-a-r-c

Have you noticed how gas prices started falling the very summer day in Jul or August that Bush called on Congress to open up drilling- and have started to rise in the last 2 weeks, as democrat after democrat testifies to plans to strangle and lock up our domestic resources?

I guess the quickest way to assure that no one is relying on (nasty) oil is to make sure there is none around to rely on.

Going to be interesting to see how people go about losing jobs, losing homes, and buying new technology cars (on credit).

But everything is okay. Peggy Noonan got our her knee pads for Obama and said he is the one. Even though the one will ban oil drilling, close Gitmo and bring some of the most dangerous terrorists in the world to the U.S., won election by receiving 100’s of millions of online donations illegally from overseas, has friends that are the most radical of our citizens and hate America and is spending four times the amount more on his inauguration party than any other POTUS in the history of the U.S.

I wish I could share you optimism, but this is going to be an 8 year administration that will essentially institutionalize socialism in this country and there will be no turning back. This country will be finished when Obama finally leaves office and he will probably be replaced by another Dem given the demographic changes wrought by our immigration policies.

The parts of America that rely the most on fuel oil for heat are the parts that routinely vote these enviro-whackos to positions of power.

Proof that liberalism is a mental disease or defect.

Your pessimistic post is, unfortunately, the most likely scenario. Most Americans are in favor of any program they think they personally can gain something from. Liberals will always be better at offering such programs. The concept of individual liberty is not of such great importance to the majority.

And of course the liberal LSM is in lock step pumping up the cold whether because they assume all the public is too lazy and stupid to be prepared.

Good observation.

Look for and immediate 25 cent / gallon increase next Wednesday and it won't be from the federal tax increase that's coming.

Then the Whores on the Hill will stand around complaining with cocktails in hand and looking dumb as to why for some gosh-dern reason Zero's new economic stimulus plan isn't working.

Of course ... the freaking RAT cowards let the ban expire not daring to cast their vote to keep the ban alive that close to an election. But they knew damned well they’d put it back when the public had plenty of time to forget that bit of fraud. Damn them to Hell.

How about none?

Maybe these geniuses should drill for the oil and destroy it somewhere so we can be sure to never use it? Just wondering, is there any other nation on Earth that is prohibiting development of its own energy??? Every nation I know of is trying to use its resources, several are trying to drill off our coast!

And republicans don’t denounce this craziness for what it is? They don’t point out the Clintons got millions from the Saudis and Dhubai?

I believe at least half the members of free republic could organize a strategy that would make the dems the minority party they deserve to be. Republicans are such cowardly idiots.

I really don't think so. People are conditioned to blame any rise in oil prices on the oil companies and greedy Republicans with ties to oil like Bush and Cheney. When the price goes back up as a result of the socialists in Congress and the new administration, the blame is not going on them even though they'll be the cause. I'd love to be wrong about this, but I don't see how when you consider that there were drilling bans in effect when the price went over $4 a gallon for gas and people on the other side said nothing about changing them as a remedy. Why they would now after voting in these clymers isn't logical.

There is an AP article in the paper this morning, a question and answer type of piece, that states that the oil industry is unfairly reducing out put to raise prices and therefore the refineries need to be more closely regulated by the government.

So, which is it? Do they want to decrease output, or increase output? What they really want is to reduce profit, but increase the government share of that profit. Reduced consumption means less gov’t tax money.

It will only be a civil war if the leftists are true to form and can’t stand the thought of anyone escaping their control.

On the other hand, we would thankfully allow a peaceful separation if a state or two wanted to go full socialist and seceded.

Not so with the left. Freedom (as we define it) is antithetical to their belief system.

Obama Interior Nominee to Consider New Ban on Oil Drilling in USA
Friday, January 16, 2009
By Josiah Ryan, Staff Writer

As we have stated, in many e-mails sent out, The new congress will kill the newly approved offshore drilling bill and it will go away so we need to get back to pushing all involved understand that we cannot be dependent on foreign oil. The people have been lulled into a false sense of security with the falling fuel prices, it can and most likely will go back up with the help of the Federal and State taxes.
