Federal panel upholds voter ID (GA law)

ATLANTA (AP) - A three-judge federal panel has upheld a Georgia law that requires voters to present government-issued photo identification before they cast their ballots.

The panel ruled Wednesday "that the burden imposed by the requirement of photo identification is outweighed by the interests of Georgia in safeguarding the right to vote."

Democrats have long targeted the law, which they fear could disenfranchise poor and minority voters. They also contend the state had no evidence of voter fraud to back up the new rules.

State elections officials say the law helps prevent voter fraud. Republican Secretary of State Karen Handel said she applauded the "latest confirmation of Georgia's common sense photo ID requirement."

They mean it will disenfranchise multiple and illegal voters.

This is clearly the right decision... there was some legitimate concern about the first version that charged a fee for the ID and didn’t have places in many counties to get one.

But now that the IDs are free and available in every county this is a good law.

I really don’t appreciate those states who let non-Americans vote last November. Look what it has done to this country.

CA and other states should propose propositions to their people as to whether or not voters should have valid ID when they vote.
Even in Cali I think it would pass 80+%.

Election fraud is cheating. I know of no law that has ever confirmed cheating is legitimate......except for voter fraud. Why should I vote when I know my vote has been canceled out ten times over by some drunk in the street that is payed to vote multiple times.

Just more proof of what an opposite world the Left and MSM have brought us of late. In the original, right side up, world the federal government would insist that every state taking part in an election for Congress or President provide government issued picture ID.

The other thing different in that world would be that no state could place a candidate on the ballot for a federal office until he or she had proved eligibility. My mom used to say for want of a horse a kingdom was lost. Today it’s for want of a $10 birth certificate a nation was lost.

Ever since California passed motor-voter (check a box on your Driver’s License appplication saying you are a citizen and you will be registered to vote) the Dems have had a stranglehold on our elections. Everyone should be able to prove they are eligible to vote. Otherwise my vote is compromised.

Hotdog!

Other states need to look at this implementation and emulate it.

Bye bye ACORN

Lie,lie,lie.

How could this possibly disenfranchise the poor and the minority voters?
