Is this justice being crazy or what? No, I do not think it is appropriate for young teens to text naked pictures around. However, I do not believe that it is appropriate that you charge them with distribution of child pornography. Wouldn't a conviction follow them for the rest of their lives? Would they not be placed on child predator identification sites and have to register when moving into a new neighborhood? What are the authorities trying to prove here?

Sending nude pictures is becoming a big problem....I remember a recent study showing many young people have done it.
However, to charge them with child porn??? That is insane.
Maybe the kids who sent them beyond where it was supposed to go, as they spread it. But, not the initial sender and receiver. That is just crazy.

They want to scare the hell out of all the other kids who think about doing it and make an example of them.
Confiscate the phones, suspend them if it happened at school and then involve the parents in any other punishment.

This is ridiculous. It is not “child pornography” when a minor takes a picture of themself, or minors take pictures of each other (of their own volition), just as it is not “molestation” for two minors to voluntarily engage in sexual activity.
This is not in the spirit in which these laws were passed.

the school found the cell phone after it was confiscated when they observed a student using it during school hours.....
so why did the school even access the pics in the cellphone? They saw the kid making a call, not taking nude pics, how can they justify going through the phone?

Just possessing the photos is a criminal offense. if the boys forward a photo to anyone, it’s distribution. Seems one of the boys was using his cell phone in school, against the rulkes, and the phone was confiscated. The teacher found the photos and contacted authorities.

Like most guys, I would have loved this when I was in high school, and now that I have kids, it sickens me. Just another example of how stupid kids are, and why they need real adults to protect them from themselves (and some adults).

It’s not ‘distrubuting child pornography’ if they are sending pics of themselves. it’s stupidity, yes, but it’s also “normal” teenage behavior these days, and supported by todays porn culture and ‘it’s ok to be and act like a slut’ sexual experimentation an openess they teach at school

I was once charged with distributing porn when I sent a naked picture of myself. However, the DA dropped it to misdemeanor "Possession of a dead weapon."

Huh? What's your problem? as far as referer information goes, you can make it say whatever you want if you know what you are doing. All it is, is info on what site you are coming from. you can set it so that your referer info says "http//www.Obama is a fraud.org" if you want.
And Norton doesn't strip referer info. Some Anonymizers do.

Your first mistake is/will be to GIVE THEM A CELL PHONE.
Your second is to let them have a computer in their room.
DO NOT LET YOUR CHILD HAVE A COMPUTER HOOKED TO THE INTERNET IN THEIR ROOM.
