Sexually transmitted disease rates soar: CDC WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. syphilis rates rose for a seventh year in 2007, driven by gay and bisexual men, while chlamydia reached record numbers and gonorrhea remained at alarming levels -- especially among blacks, health officials said on Tuesday. Blacks make up 12 percent of the U.S. population, but account for about 70 percent of gonorrhea cases and almost half of chlamydia and syphilis cases, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said.

Black women ages 15 to 19 have the highest rates of chlamydia and gonorrhea, and gonorrhea rates for blacks overall were 19 times higher than for whites, the CDC said.

Gotta love that free love lifestyle dontcha?

Well, can’t blame Bush over this. I wonder how Obama feels inheriting all these problems.

Nothing but the facts, but somewhere they are screaming racism in this report I bet.

Isn’t it supposed to be bigoted and racist to talk about certain groups having high rates of these diseases? I thought that AIDS is NOT supposed to be tied to gays, for example. We’re all at risk of AIDS, so we’re told.

Well, we are all at risk - if we decide to have sex with an HIV-infected person.

In a large fraction of women chlamydia leads to infertility.

Well, can’t blame Bush over this.

Oh sure they can. According to the article the escalation started in 2000. That means it has to be Bush's fault.

Dr. Laura told a story about a woman who went to a PTA meeting. It got pretty Liberal when they spoke about the Sex Ed. and she kind of got laughed off when she spoke of Abstinance. During the break she stayed behind. All the others went out for coffee in the cafeteria. When they returned to the class room, the teacher’s rep dropped her cleverness on them by saying that everyone who shook hands with the people with a circle on the their hands had “contracted” a STD and since everyone had shaken hands with them, they ALL had it. The woman raised her hand and said she didn’t have it, because “she abstained”. Well that was the last time she went to her kid’s school.

I get the point of the example, but it is a fairly silly example.

Where does this fact come from? "Blacks make up 12 percent of the U.S. population.

I have been hearing this same percentage quoted since the 1970's. How can this be, considering the birth rates?

Everything is nothing but lies. . . .

Can anyone illuminate things for me?
