Bush cautions GOP to stay open-minded

Down to single digits in his days left in office, President George W. Bush is warning the Republican Party not to become "anti-immigrant" as it regroups from defeat and retools its leadership.

"It's very important for our party not to narrow its focus, not to become so inward looking that we drive people away from a philosophy that is compassionate and decent," the departing president said in an interview broadcast Sunday, nine days before his term ends. "My call for our party is to be open-minded."

Thank you for reminding us again what a useless liberal you are Mr. President. And thank you for trashing the GOP. What a lousy excuse for a President this man has been. The GOP must learn from its mistakes. Most importantly, “open primaries” must disappear. Never again must a GOP candidate be picked by Liberals and “independents”.

As an aside, what signifies “open-minded” people in the immigration debate is that they are capable of thinking thoughts not pre-approved by the New York Times.

I think Washington and the left got to him. Geez he was lambasted from day one relentlessly. I wish the left would fight our enemies like they fought Bush. Hell, we’d be out of the Middle East and everyone would be singing cumbaya by now.

The GOP must learn from its mistakes.

But they won't. So-called Conservatives (I realize that Conservatives and Republicans are not the same thing) are now toying with the Huckster (Huckabee). Touting him like he's the greatest thing since sliced bread. When will they ever learn? My guess is, never.

Indeed, if you are certain that you are correct, that is right, that is on the side of absolute truth, DON’T cave in to the liberal mindset. Liberal sympathizers are cowardly with no moral conviction.

Well, the Republicans just can’t lose from now on. We’ve got W giving advice and McCain forming a PAC to help shape the future of the party.

What a bright future the party has if it’ll just listen to those two RINOs.

And they both believe in global warming.

Also, there is an important distinction between the propaganda phrase “anti-immigrant” (personal disdain for individual immigrants) and “anti-immigration” (opposing immigration as a policy). I am anti-immigration, not anti-immigrant.

Maybe he can take McCain with him when he leaves.

Not when the suits running the GOP loathe conservatives as much as the 'Rats do.

Even losing's not enough to change the GOP's ways. We really do need a new party.

At first I thought it said that Jorge Bush was down to single digits in the polls. He probably can't stand the thought that he did not achieve the North American Union and the Amero for money. He probably can't stand the idea that there is even 1 manufacturing job left in the US.

This guy just can’t shake his Mexico fetish, to the extent that he must continue to insult all who disagree with him during his last days in office.

And his stupid remarks are even more offensive when one recalls that our legal immigration is now around 1,200,000 per year. But, according to this jerk, anyone who is against leaving our borders open year-after-year (as he deliberately did), and eventually granting amnesty to 12 - 20,000,000 illegals is “anti-immigrant” (not to mention the millions more those would be allowed to bring in).

All the Bushes should move back to Connecticut where they came from, and they should stay there and stop pretending to be anything but the New England RINOs they so clearly are.

ahhhhhhhhhh!!!! It is not anti-immigrant it is anti ILLEGAL immigrant.

Okay, then answer this simple question, please?

If all the current people inside our borders are made 'legal', and documented...given papers, etc., amd then by a pre-set date...say, January 1st, 2010 anybody without proper documentation will be summarily deported.

..would that satisfy you and make you happy?

Right. Bush liberalized the GOP and pushed the federal governments bureaucracy even further leftward.
