Coulter advocates punching protesters on live TV
| John Byrne Published: Thursday January 8, 2009 |
Outspoken conservative author Ann Coulter said Republicans should have "punched" two protesters who interrupted Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's speech to the Republican National Convention last September on Tuesday's "Lou Dobbs Tonight."'
Coulter, known for her over-the-top attacks on Democrats, bemoaned the liberal protesters and the muted response of "strong Republican men" on the convention floor.
"How about a punch in the yap to these screaming banshees?" she asked. She also tried to tie the two women to Obama, saying they were "Obama bundlers." A video of her comments appears below.
Coulter also praised NBC's Matt Lauer, who recently interviewed her on The Today Show after sharp criticism from liberal bloggers.
"Oh, it was fabulous," Coulter said of her interview with Matt Lauer on NBC's The Today Show.
Dobbs praised the conservative icon, saying she had the "sharpest tongue" and calling her the sharpest wit out there." He added that he "admire[d] the energy you bring to your cause."
One of the protesters is pictured above right as law enforcement offers placed a hand over her mouth. In a September 2008 press release, they said they "adjusted their clothes to reveal pink slips that read 'Palin is not a woman's choice,'... [and] yelled "Women say no to war!" and "Women need a vice-president for peace!'"
Code Pink, a anti-war group, is known for their aggressive tactics. They also interrupted a speech by Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY) on global warming in 2007.
Fox News morning host Brian Kilmead said that the Clinton protester should have been tased.
"They should Tase this guy," Kilmead said. "At one point with security so high and tensions on edge, don't you think they're going to get at the very least Tased or beaten to a pulp by somebody? These people look threatening."
"I would be for Tasing anyone in Code Pink," he added. "I'm pro-Pink Tasing."

Over the top? Code Pink is over the top.
get with the program..any conservative is “over the top” while a liberal, with the attitude toward conservatives is considered “mainstream” and only saying what “everyone” thinks..
If I recall, the code pink communist interrupted John McCain's acceptance speech.
She had no "right to speak". She was trying to prevent the Republican's right to peaceful assembly and free speech. She was not invited to make comments. She spoke out of turn. She was a Stalinist with no respect for the rights of others.
If she'd thrown a shoe, it would've been a violent act.
And the protesters who've been convicted of plotting to firebomb the GOP convention have been completely overlooked by the MSM.
What of those "protesters"? When they do not gather for peaceful protest, they should not be surprised to find the attacked striking back. Then again, look at how the media is griping at Israel for returning fire on Hamas.
Ann has been at her absolute best these last few days. And when she says she’s “the only man in the Republican Party”... she’s got THAT right!
What a bunch of wusses the R-men all are. (Or mostly all. A couple of standout exceptions.)
Coulter/Palin 2012!
The courts have also determined that it is free speech to burn someone else’s stolen flag.
At the very least Coulter should be Press Secretary.
Which is true.
I knew I liked Kilmead.
I sympathise with her remarks. Nevertheless, it seems that protesters only get tazed at Democrat rallies. Protesting Republicans, very safe; protesting Democrats, on the other hand can get you a world of hurt.
13 posts and still the rules are ignored - we have RULES here!
LOL is right. Brian Kilmeade is priceless, just priceless. I adore him.

That might be the only way to get the ubiquitous protestors to shut up. They seem to think that what they have to say is more important than anything else.
Oh yea, they are quite tied into the designating of Obama as the Present Elect. She also tried to tie the two women to Obama, saying they were "Obama bundlers."Which is true.
After reading that quote again, it made me think of that being a literal comment.
I can just see some hairy rope being used to tie Jodie Evans and Media Benjamin tightly to our dear King of The World.
Make a great cartoon!
I think she would make a great Supreme Court Justice, but I doubt she wants that job for life.
AG would be great, and is a job that would end.
She would have to take a giant pay cut for a couple of years, though.
In your house/club/business, you can tell anyone to shut-up or get out.
Heck, that goes on every day on the talk shows.
"Freak storm, you got hit by lightening"
Men at work
If any Liberals condemn Ann for promoting punching protesters charging the stage of a presidential candidate just remember that people peacefully protesting the Clinton Admistration were beaten on camera after a Union Thug “put the hat” on one of them. The Union said it was a “job action” in which violence is allowed by law. Yup that is not a typo.
Excellent point. And then the Union turned around and sued Don Adams (a Freeper).
Code Pink had press passes to the convention. They disrupted Sarah's speech and then one or two others got in and disrupted McCain's speech. As far as I'm concerned, RNC security should have banned all of them after Sarah's speech.
The Courts are not always logical.
“In your house/club/business, you can tell anyone to shut-up or get out. “
True, but it still doesn’t give somebody the right to interfere with an invited guest speaking. That’s not free speech.
Agreed. This is why Social War is coming. In order to survive one will have to fight back which will then cause the left to escalate etc. etc.
In at least some of the recent (2008) Code Pink invasions of government events, they had forged badges (by someone who claimed he was operating within his “authority” to manufacture them (from a scan) at will.
No punching needed. Just a flick to their forehead and they’d probably run away crying.
Good name for a band.
Punching protesters...sounds like a great plan.
Ann Coulter is one of the best writers and humorists conservatives have. But this is over the top. The protesters undermine their own credibility with their behavior. That’s the beauty of Freedom of Speech.
Very True.
Their feets are full of holes.
That would make a great SNL skit. If they were really comics and not just idiots. There should be a thread here on FR: funniest post of the day.

Now THAT would be something.
Remember when Rush and Ann had that Fox show on Sunday where Rush was President and Coulter VP?
That was funny.
It didn't work out for a weekly show, but I bet they or someone could do some good sketches based on the Present Obama Administration
In America our rights come from God, not the government. You have the right to debate, squable or duke it out.
Free speech has nothing to do with this unless congress passed a law mandating it.
You can’t have free speech or intellience discourse if you permit heckling loones to drown out am invited speaker.
I'm agreeing, saying the house has the right to forcibly eject the protestors.
In the process, causing as many contusions, fractures and abrasions as necessary to overcome their resistance.
I like Kilmead more every day. Tase the pinkos!
“get with the program..any conservative is over the top while a liberal, with the attitude toward conservatives is considered mainstream and only saying what everyone thinks..”
It’s alot like we’re still all in highschool, and the libs are the self-appointed cool crowd trying to convince everyone else they aren’t important.
