Good news: Someone in the Justice Department took the Election Day intimidation tactics of the New Black Panther Party in Philadelphia seriously.

The DOJ filed an injunction today against the NBPP bullies over their billyclub-wielding thuggishness at a Philly polling place, which was captured on video:

Here’s the DOJ’s announcement:

Justice Department Seeks Injunction Against New Black Panther Party Lawsuit Seeks to Prohibit Voter Intimidation in Future Elections

WASHINGTON - The Justice Department today filed a lawsuit under the Voting Rights Act against the New Black Panther Party for Self-Defense and three of its members alleging that the defendants intimidated voters and those aiding them during the Nov. 4, 2008, general election.

The complaint, filed in the United States District Court in Philadelphia, alleges that, during the election, Minister King Samir Shabazz and Jerry Jackson were deployed at the entrance to a Philadelphia polling location wearing the uniform of the New Black Panther Party for Self-Defense, and that Samir Shabazz repeatedly brandished a police-style baton weapon.

“Intimidation outside of a polling place is contrary to the democratic process,” said Acting Assistant Attorney General Grace Chung Becker.

“The Voting Rights Act of 1965 was passed to protect the fundamental right to vote and the Department takes allegations of voter intimidation seriously.”

According to the complaint, party Chairman Malik Zulu Shabazz confirmed that the placement of Samir Shabazz and Jackson in Philadelphia was part of a nationwide effort to deploy New Black Panther Party members at polling locations on Election Day.

The complaint alleges a violation of Section 11(b) of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, which prohibits intimidation, coercion or threats against “any person for voting or attempting to vote.” The Department seeks an injunction preventing any future deployment of, or display of weapons by, New Black Panther Party members at the entrance to polling locations.

The New Black Panther Party for Self-Defense, which claims active chapters nationwide, is distinct from the Black Panther Party founded by Bobby Seale in the 1960s.

The Civil Rights Division enforces the Voting Rights Act of 1965. To file complaints about discriminatory voting practices, including acts of harassment or intimidation, voters may call the Voting Section of the Civil Rights Division at 1-800-253-3931.

More information about the Voting Rights Act and other federal voting laws is available on the Department of Justice’s web site.

I can only imagine what the NBPP gangstas are calling Grace Chung Becker.

You remember what Shabazz called me. Remember?

So, any bets on whether or not the government drops the lawsuit after Jan. 20th?

If I were Acting Assistant Attorney General Grace Chung Becker, I would be updating and polishing my resume right now.

Sues them?......Ohhhhhhhh!

Why don't they send the National Guard after them? They are right on the edge of being a domestic terrorist group.

Or that they'll be pardoned on Jan 21 if convicted?

I live in the Philly ‘burbs-I remember watching the local news that evening. Philly’s mayor, Michael Nutter, was interviewed. When asked about these incidents, he acted all exasperated, rolling his eyes, etc. then said “This is America-those men can stand wherever they want”.

Unbelievable, but true

It’s so frustrating that no one actually does anything WHILE or BEFORE our elections are corrupted.

At this point, I’m thinking of sitting back and watching this drunk (country as alcoholic metaphor) destroy herself,

and see if she dies or decides to reform.

When the other thug was videoed and interviewed,

they asked him about the guy with the club.

He said there wasn’t anyone with a club. When shown the playback of him standing next to the club guy, he got mad and said, in perfect ebonic dialect: “we’re talking about what IS, not what WAS!”

It’s amazing someone didn’t send a squad car around and have those goons arrested for “brandishing a weapon” or “intimidation” — surely those actions would be against the law even in the USA. They sure would be here in NZ.

Enforcing the law against minorities with special protection is nearly illegal here... at the least, racist.

Don’t you all know that only white republicans do this. There you go....proof positive.....blacks do it. I just get sick and tired of all the black racist saying all whites are racist. I do not think I am racist, but when I see this crap....I think maybe I am, when it comes to this crap. And that is what it is.......CRAP.
