Pilot Accused Of Drinking, Replaced On Port Columbus Flight Wednesday, January 7, 2009 5:52 PM Print Story E-mail Story COLUMBUS, Ohio 10TV News learned on Wednesday that a Southwest Airlines pilot has been placed on paid leave after being accused of drinking before getting on a flight at Port Columbus International Airport.
According to a Port Columbus Police report, a passenger approached the pilot on Tuesday afternoon, saying he "smelled and looked drunk," 10TV's Andy Hirsch reported.
The pilot then went to a restroom and called off sick, the report said.
The pilot told police that he was not drinking, but he did tell officers that he "partied hard (the night before) at the hotel," the report said.
A new pilot assumed flight duties and the flight to Orlando took off on time.
Southwest Airlines and the Federal Aviation Administration are involved in the investigation.

Ohio Ping!
Shouldn't that be "called in" sick?
Maybe he had the fish.
I agree with you. It's an Ohio thing. They also say "on accident" instaed of "by accident."
...Wanna get away?
[ding!]
“You are now free to move about the workforce.”
“Maybe he had the fish”
Quick, blow up the automatic pilot
LOL! In the good old days, Saturday Night Live would have done a skit like that.
Roger, Roger!
Excuse me sir, there’s been a little problem in the cockpit
The cockpit what is it?
It’s the little room in the front of the plane where the pilots sit, but that’s not important right now.
