GOP boss: Racial song a distraction
Richmond Times-Dispatch ^ | January 3, 2009 | NEIL H. SIMON

The distribution of a song titled "Barack the Magic Negro" by a candidate for chairman of the national Republican Party has created an unnecessary distraction as the party rebuilds, Virginia GOP chairman Jeff Frederick said yesterday. "There's a lot of things we need to be fighting about, and this isn't one of them," Frederick said in an interview. On another matter, Frederick complained that critics of the Republican Party use a double standard when judging political outreach to minorities. Tennessee political operative Chip Saltsman, one of six candidates for the GOP's national chairmanship, mailed a CD last month to members of the Republican National Committee that included the song about President-elect Barack Obama that was featured on Rush Limbaugh's radio program.

Idiot reporter only tells half-truths. The whole truth would mention that the phrase Magic Negro was coined by a black LA times writer and that the "singer" of the song in the parody is Al Sharpton complaining about the "johnny come lately" Obama.

The big news is that it's the Republican party, not the Demorats, who are supporting the seating of a Negro (who's apparantly not terribly "magic" himself) in the US Senate OVER THE OBJECTIONS of the Democrats.

But that's always the case. With the Democrats it's segegation now, and segregation forever!

Good Shanklin/Rush parody but Republicans need to watch anything racial because the apologizing and hand wringing in public look bad(ie Jack Kemp). Republicans will never get blacks to vote for them but someone like Steel would be nice to have to attack BoB. Puff the Magic Negro song will be relevant again if blacks complain Obama is not doing enough for the poor, but what was the relevance of distributing the video now? It looks racial. Blacks are currently ecstatic with Obama's win.

Of course it’s a dristraction. We have a bunch of wimps on our side.

We need to replace our defensive team with an offensive team of players. That will put the Lefties on defense, and instead of a distraction, the song will become an offensive weapon to use against them

The RACIST LEFT is still stinging from the exposure Paul Shanklin gave them in this delightful parody.

When you see certain RINO’s flinch and blanch, you can readily pick them out as the gutless cowards that lost the opportunity given them when we took the House and Senate.

Indeed. I've always thought the "Magic Negro" was a stupid idea. I don't care who started it.

and the song was only one of 41 parodies on the CD. There is no agenda on singling that one out is there? Never... NOT.

RE “;I'm a Rush fan as is my 22yr old nephew. I gave this same cd to him for Christmas. “

It's a funny video but at the moment blacks are ecstatic with Obama so it is not relevant. It looks racially motivated. My proof? I have heard no direct defense of this by Republican party all hand wringing. In fact republican party should not be attacking Obama at all until he takes office or proposes something. It looks like sour grapes. Right now his party is floating the gasoline tax increase. This is a gift to us. Obama promised to cut lower income taxes and to lower gasoline prices, but they lowered before he got in office.

This will come up again in the media just before the congress begins its 5-minute long debate on the “fairness doctrine” (not fair, and not a doctrine)

This whole “Magic Negro” crap is such a crock. Libs can go on SNL and blast pubbies from here to kingdom come and everybody laughs. Letterman along with countless black comedians have a field day with white conservatives and everybody laughs. Guess what? I thank the Lib. RAT at the LA Times who coined the phrase “Magic Negro” because I think the parody is a “hoot”. Go Magic Negro go!!
