Ron Paul Comments on Meaning of “Natural Born” Qualification for President
Ballot Access News ^ | December 26, 2008

Posted on 12/26/2008 6:33:48 PM PST by King of Card Games

http://restoretheconstitutionalrepublic.org has a comment by a Texan who says that he or she recently talked on the phone with Congressman Ron Paul about the meaning of “natural-born” in Article II, for presidential qualification. According to the comment, Paul said, "There is no law that actually defines ‘natural born’, so the argument could go on forever with thousands of different interpretations. The consensus is that he is a U.S. citizen, and therefore eligible."

Most who are concerned with the situation were not consulted for this so-called consensus.

No, I change my mind a few years ago and reinforced it in the last election cycle.

I respected him because he supported the Constitution. Now he’s just a loon.

Mercy! Consensus? The man—Obama—perjures on his IL Bar app, posts a froged COLB as his ‘proof of citizenship’, has an army of lawyers and detectives hide every scrap of his documents in adult life, and spends a million to stonewall showing his vault cert to a court. The Constitution requires three specific qualifications and Rep. Paul is more than willing to just piss on the Constitution and go with consensus. Mercy! ‘That’s not the Ron Paul I knew.’

Ron Paul is a loon but he needs a break on this one. For one, we are not certain he said it. All we have is the hearsay testimony on an “unnamed Texan”.

thousands of different interpretations

The next time some schmuck tell me about Paul's rock solid belief in the Constitution I'll likely spit in his face. There aren't "thousands of interpretations." There are maybe three or four. ALL OF THEM REASONABLY REQUIRE PRODUCTION OF A CERTIFIED COPY OF ONE'S BIRTH CERTIFICATE. Consensus won't get you a driver's license, and it shouldn't get one the Presidency.

Shame!

For me the question is veracity and respect for our Constitution and heritage as a nation of laws not men. Obama seems to be saying F you to all that as well as the many Americans who want to see his birth certificate. McCain produced his -- as the MSM employees were just ramping up to make a big deal out of it.

Barack Helmsley Obama says: "We don't show documents. Only the little people have to show documents."

(Leona "Queen of Mean" Helmsley boasted "We don't pay taxes. Only the little people pay taxes" according to testimony from disgruntled employees who said she terrorized the help at her homes and hotels. Mrs. Helmsley denied saying it. Regardless she went to prison for tax fraud.)

Politicians aren’t given to ‘spiritual’ insight. They’re willing to accept anything to avoid conflict. They don’t appear to care that allowing a fraud to ascend to the presidentcy abrogates our, OUR Constitutional contract with the fed. The elected reps are the ones disenfranchised We The People are.

Looks like Ron Paul does not know much about the Constitution after all! No surprise that he joins Martinez with their idea of what “natural born” citizen means. It means what they want it to mean, that’s all. The want Obama to be President so they will say Obama meets qualifications.

One again, Ron Paul demonstrates that his understanding of the Constitution is limited by what can be written on a bumper sticker. On this subject, Paul is a legal moron.

Ron Paul is wrong on this one, the laws are not that complicated. If Obama was born in Hawaii, he is a natural born citizen. If not, he isn’t. His mother was too young to have Obama qualify as a citizen, if he were born out of country. This whole debate is unnecessary. Obama should be made to show proof he was born in the US. Ron Paul is weaseling out of this like all the dimwits who don’t want to offend the press. Don’t think the citizenship issue would have gone unresolved if Obama were a white conservative. It’s just that simple.

I find that hard to believe. I respect Ron Paul for his Constitutional stances on a wide variety of subjects other than the war on terror, but this doesn’t sound like things I’ve heard him say in the past. If he did say this, then I can’t wait until he’s voted out of office.

Ron Paul has always been disappointing to me. I resented friends telling me he was the only worthwhile candidate to vote for. People who pressure you hard like that, who are to the point of hero worship of any man, are the kinds of people to avoid or ignore. I make up my own mind.

Ron Paul is a medical doctor. He legal opinions are don't count in a court of law. Where is the damn birth certificate? It's a very simple request. One satisfied by thousands of Americans every day. If he was eligible, he would not have spent $1 million in legal fees to obfuscate the issue.

“The consensus is that he is a U.S. citizen, and therefore eligible.” That is unpersuasive.

Sounds a lot like Mel Martinez saying that all we need is for the voters to vet zer0bama. Don't let no old pesky Constitution get in the way!!!

Presidential candidates are vetted by voters at least twice - first in the primary elections and again in the general election. President-Elect Obama won the Democratic Party’s nomination after one of the most fiercely contested presidential primaries in American history. And, he has now been duly elected by the majority of voters in the United States. Throughout both the primary and general election, concerns about Mr. Obama’s birthplace were raised. The voters have made clear their view that Mr. Obama meets the qualifications to hold the office of President. After he is sworn into office, Mr. Obama will be our nation’s President and I intend to bestow upon him the honor and respect due any man who holds that Office.
