Tina Fey is the entertainer of the year? You betcha.
Fey was voted The Associated Press' Entertainer of the Year, an annual honor chosen by newspaper editors and broadcast producers across the country. Fey was selected by AP members as the performer who had the greatest impact on culture and entertainment in 2008.
The 38-year-old comedian bested runner-up Robert Downey Jr., whose comeback was capped with the blockbuster smash "Iron Man," and the third-place vote-getter, Heath Ledger, who posthumously wowed audiences as the Joker in "The Dark Knight."
But it was Fey who most impressed voters largely with her indelible impression of Gov. Sarah Palin on "Saturday Night Live." Her cameos on her old show (where she had been a head writer until 2006) helped drive the show to record ratings and eventually drew an appearance from Palin herself.

Fey is much uglier than Palin. And I remember her saying something like, “I hope I never have to play that woman after November again.” What a total b__ch.
Honest question: did Tina Fey actually do something else to deserve this award, or did she merely get it for being fortunate enough to look like Sarah Palin (coupled with being a decent comedienne)?

The MSM loves Fey. Why? Because she’s liberal, of course.
I’ll grant her that she got boffo ratings for the Palin thing. But everyone knows her sit-com is a flop. Did it ever occur to these guys that Palin herself had more to do with Fey’s popularity than Fey? Probably not. I’ll bet we’ll here all sorts of praise of Obama as a media star from the entertainment rags, and nothing about Palin outside of Fey’s impression.

Her sit-com is a ratings flop, but it won Emmys. No one cares about Emmys, though, so that’s not what did it. Her movie “Baby Momma,” or whatever, might have been on top of the box office for a week. I don’t know. But this is all about Palin.
“30 Rock” and “The Office”...how did these turd-shows survive if not for PC?
This women is a bum. Never have seen her perform and never will. She is not my idea of entertainment. She seems to be one tampon short of a load any time I have seen print about her.

I think Fey is kinda hot.
Other than that, I can’t see why she deserves an award for anything. I’ve seen garage mechanics with as much comedic talent as she has.

I don’t think those shows are bad. They don’t deserve to be hits, either. And certainly there is no justification for NBC to build their marquee night around them. But that’s probably why NBC is in last place.
As for the Emmys, this happens to be a horrible time for the sit-com. What “30 Rock”’s competition? “Two and a Half Men”? Blah. “Scrubs”? Used to be good, is now stale. “Entourage” is okay.

I think it’s time for conservatives to work toward a concerted goal of creating an alternate infostructure. The Internet is a good start but we need to do much more: movie studios, more TV programming, etc. Liberals did this long ago and have successfully effected a COUP of this country. We better get creative and busy if we ever intend to take it back.

I’ll agree that Fey is attractive, BUT when the real Sarah Palin appeared on SNL it was very apparent that Fey was a very poor imitation.

So if Sarah comes back for another run in 2012 I suppose they will be dragging Tina Fey back out to undermine the effort once again.
Tina Fey has mother issues as does Susan Sarandon. Both their moms are Republicans.
First, I’m on analogue (antenna) so “Entourage” is an unknown to me.
That said, 2.5 Men, as a cultural send-up, still makes me chuckle. The Office and 30 Rock are just, plain, not funny.
Well, okay, I can give Tracy McGrady some props for his (all too small) bits. He, of all the Hollyweird mooks on that show, has a decent understanding of the idiocy in the current culture.

Fey is very talented, she deserved this award even if she didn’t impersonate Palin.

You're right. I was in such a hurry to make my point that I left out that little detail. Unemployment has made me "estupido"!
I agree, Ledger was spectacular in Dark Knight, and Downey Jr. was awesome as well. I think viewers (libs) flocked to the Palin sketches because they could not handle the reality that Palin is a political force. This drove them to seek asylum from reality, and herego they watched Fey on SNL and suddenly felt better about themselves.
Now Fey better learn how to do Michelle if she wants to stay in show biz. Well, even that won't help as Michelle has all the personality of Rosalynn Carter on Nyquil.
