Why bother voting anymore if libs can have the majority’s will overturned by some judge, even Constitutional amendments, state or federal.

Jerry Brown? How old is this guy? He was a dinosaur 40 years ago.

I'm sick of it. Liberals will hate our guts no matter what; while we're figuring out how to "reach out," they're calculating a better angle for the knife. We CANNOT get along with liberals because we have diametrically opposed worldviews, and it's time to stop pretending otherwise. This is about the future heart and soul of this nation, and probably its very survival.

Exactly. Until our leadership understands this, there is no end to this. Liberalism is an evil cancer and must be humiliated, mocked, derided, and given no quarter. In other words, defeated.

IIFC, this has already been done.

It was an amendment regarding illegal immigrants. Something regarding not giving them state services like education, welfare etc.

It was declared unconstitutional.

I remember being simply shocked that a constitutional amendment could be declared unconstitutional by the cort.

I'll try to find it.

We've reached a point in this country where every American must do some serious soul searching. My opinion on this subject is that I have always been a law-abiding citizen because I have respected the idea that the law is an extension of the will of the people, even when I don't agree with a particular law. However, the very moment when I no longer have even the least amount of say in how my own government governs because that government has decided that I am a subject rather than a citizen, I will no longer consider the government to be legitimate. What to do with an illegitimate government is, of course, a question to be discussed in private, but we have a proud history in this country to guide us, and an obligation to carry on a fight that was begun by our forefathers.

Very well stated and it deserves to be repeated!

FRegards

Brown knows that in CA the 48 percent is the REAL majority, because it is organized, disciplined and “taking names”. The other 52 percent ate disorganized, undisciplined, and oblivious to most things around them.

Jerry Brown was born on April 7, 1938 making him 70 years old. Someone above asked if he is a Roman Catholic—yes he is.

Lots of RC in California—it pays to claim that you are a RC for the votes.

“And our only chance at victory is a STRONG, UNYIELDING, UNAPOLOGETIC conservative who yields no ground. Sarah comes to mind.”

I agree. Calling Obama a socialist didn't mean much. People put more stock in a person's energy, youth, looks and demeanor than overall message. Obama’s message was “change” which only worked because they were able to define the Republican as inept, corrupt and failing. McCain didn't have a strong message if he didn't fight Obama. Had he fought tooth and nail people would thought “yes, country first.” So Obama was right in that McCain was like Bush -- in the ironic sense of both being collegiate and bipartisan. Collegiality comes across as a weakness, and is a weakness, especially when you can't size up the other team to know when it is time to fight.

If the Republicans want to win they have to have a fighter and deal with the media. This should have been figured this out in 06. They have 4 years to take themselves seriously. Sometimes I think a lot of the Rhinos were happy to get in, make some money and get out. Sad.

Actually, one of the big demographic changes of the 2000s has been the shift of once Republican suburbs, such as areas aoubt Los Angeles and Philadelphis into socialist enclaves, as people buying beyond their means look to government for “help”.

It is also true that many whites are not really committed to conservative “values” issues but look to liberals promising them greater “socialist security”. If there is a clash between traditional values and socialism, the socialists win.

If the Republicans want to win they have to have a fighter and deal with the media.

Hear hear! It's way past time for a Republican to directly challenge the MSM. As soon as he was sworn in, in 2000, Bush should have announced an address to the nation. In the wake of the recount nightmare he would have had a huge audience. He should have directly taken on the MSM, in front of the country, and challenged the MSM to end the bias. Release an already-prepared mountain of empirical yet easily understood evidence of the bias, which is most certainly out there in droves, to the press in attendance and make the same information available online for the public. Bring in top-notch journalism experts to establish elementary rules of unbiased REPORTING, then give the MSM one week to either start reporting, or kill their access to everything until they change their mind.

I would do the above on my first day as president, and IT WOULD WORK. Only ONE of the majors would have to blink and then the floodgates would be opened. IT WOULD WORK, and some Republican should have done it long, long ago.

“Brown filed a brief Friday saying the measure, which amended the California Constitution to limit marriage to a man and a woman, is itself unconstitutional because it deprives gay couples of a fundamental right.”

Socialists LOVE the people. The unwashed masses. The voter. Until that voter votes the “wrong way.” In that case the vote must be nullified and the voter (yet again) thumbed in the eye. But this IS California. I fully expect that even after doing this to the little guy the Socialists love SO much, Brown will be re-elected by a supermajority.

If we are to preserve our form of government, Jerry Brown must be recalled. He has forfeited his office, by directly contradicting his duty to the people of California.
