An intended rape victim shot and killed her attacker this morning in Cape Girardeau when he broke into her home to rape her a second time, police said.
The 57-year-old woman shot Ronnie W. Preyer, 47, a registered sex offender, in the chest with a shotgun when he broke through her locked basement door. Click Here!
The woman told police he was the same man who raped her several days earlier. Officials do not intend to seek charges against her.
In the first incident, the woman heard glass breaking in her basement about midnight on Saturday. She went to leave the house, and the man attacked when she opened the front door. He punched her in the face and then forced her into a bedroom, where he raped her, said H. Morley Swingle, prosecuting attorney in Cape Girardeau County.
The victim reported the crime to police, and her landlord repaired the broken window.
She was home alone again Friday about 2:15 a.m. when Preyer broke the same basement window. The victim was awake watching television, when Preyer switched off the electricity to her house.
She tried to call 911, but couldn't because the power was off. She got a shotgun and waited as the man began banging on the basement door. She fired when Preyer came crashing through the door. When Preyer collapsed, the woman escaped and went to a neighbor's home, where she called police. Officers, who arrived within a minute, found a bleeding Preyer stumbling away from the house. He was taken to St. Francis Medical Center, where he died several hours later.
Swingle said the victim identified Preyer as the attacker in both incidents. Preyer, of Jackson, Mo., had wet caulking from the recently repaired basement window on his clothing when he was shot.
"I will not be filing any sort of charge against this 57-year-old woman, who was clearly justified under the law in shooting this intruder in her home," Swingle said.

Cape Girardeau is Rush’s hometown. I’m sure he’s proud of this woman. I’ll definitely listen to what he has to say about it.
Ten bucks says the perp’s family gets a lawyer to try her in civil court for planning to kill him. They’ll make it sound like Murder 1.

It would have been better if she could’ve shot the b@$t@rd the first time, before he raped her. But that’s probably why she was ready for him this time around; either way, good riddance to bad rubbish.

I received an automated call from the police station last night alerting residents of some break ins occurring in my quiet, conservative little hamlet. The voice said men were knocking on the front door and when no one answered, they broke into the back basement or bedroom window. It also said most of these men were black (interesting how they can get away with that in this day and age).
Had this happened in Chicago, she would’ve been brought up on murder charges.

Agree, why was this question even raised by the journalist. Oh the poor poor victim, shot when he just wanted to check and see how she was doing. Where o’where have our manners gone. The least she could have done is offered him a drink. /s
Preyer had been convicted in New Madrid, Mo., in 1989 of rape and robbery and was sentenced to 10 years in prison. He was convicted in 2006 of failing to register as a sex offender, and earlier this year of misdemeanor assault.
Karma bitchslapped this POS.
I am so very sorry this woman has to go through this experience. OTOH, maybe all the judges that cry for the perps will wake up to the truth. But they won’t until it’s too late and they cry for the offender.
Never fired the stuff yet, but it sure looks like it will make a mess of whatever is downrange.

That looks pretty nasty. What does a box run? How many rounds in a box?
On future weapons he was showing an automatic 12 ga that has a 40 rounds drum. He used number two at two hundred yards and it destroyed the target, a 4’x8’ piece of plywood.
1) that it functions in your shotgun
2) how it shoots (relative to point of aim)
3) felt recoil from that load.
