I’m not angry. I think there are plenty of places in France where good conservative families are preserving their culture as well. I’ve met some folks that came from there and it’s a constant reminder in many aspects even here.

You have identified with Le Pen too much and folks here will remind you of the baggage that goes with someone like that, as well they should. Sadly, the extremes in France have a way of hijacking some legit concerns. Many folks have had no where to turn in the political arena. For those of us that know a bit about that political landscape, that’s understandable but only to a degree.

IMHO Sarkozy represents the best hope where Le Pen was hopeless. He is the personage around the word “Stop the madness!” has foisted its collective desire to reverse the socialism that is destroying the nation.

Obama didn’t run on socialism so much as a mocking campaign of illusion. I share your concerns on his socialist bent and when it surfaces, it really is the worst nightmare.

What concerns me most is that he is not merely a liberal/left person who is using those attitudes to merely obtain power. He really does believe in the failed policies of socialism.

That’s what makes him so scary.

“In hindsight, I would have gladly taken Rudy, despite his faults, as the GOP nominee.”

You know after Fred got bounced, and then Romney bowed out, well if we could have had Rudy over McCain I would take it in a second.

He has his faults, plenty of them. But when he gets it right, he doesn’t budge. He turned NYC completely around and it was nothing short of a miracle. For those of us who lived right in the middle of it and saw it firsthand, it was simply amazing.

The guy was about accountability in government and he took on every special interest group. The whole damn city was nothing but a bunch of collective interest groups with their hands out.

They felt entitled to it and he killed it.

Some folks just didn’t understand that.

I guess that means I should take a hint and delete my account and leave you guys to it.

So good luck dealing with Obama and his crooked crew, I fear that things are not going to be good for the US and also the World following January.

Merry Christmas, and God bless.

I did love Paris... the first time I was there was in 1975... went there with my first wife... what waste... but so was the marriage. One should not marry so young... but then wisdom comes later in life.

I did enjoy the museums and art. The fashion shows were spectacular and I remember their autobahns smelled of diesel. My first wife loved that smell... that should have been a sign! ;-) The food was wonderful but I like that kind of cooking. I was treated much better that time than I was later in life. I would love to go back some day... but the world would have to change before I would go into Europe again.

I remember London was overrun with muzzies even in '75. It was becoming Londonstan even back then. I think Stonehenge and the Imperial War Museum were my fondest memories. Germany was a hoot... drank wine and bowled with Germans in the Black Forest area... they did not speak English and I little German... but we did have a great time... loved the food in their guest houses. I remember they washed their windows and porches more than they bathed... they teased me for bathing every day. That was a great time in my life. Merry Christmas FRiend and GOD bless.

Oh the museums! To see so many of the great impressionists, that was great. I also liked having the D’orsy within walking distance from the hotel I was staying in the city center of St. Germain. It was very small and expensive and must be twice that now with the dollar’s fall.

What was funny to me is that the restaurants all serve the same menu. It’s like the same 10 dishes everywhere! I was not so big on the food but I tend to eat less meat as time goes on.

London is a great city I’m sure but I found most of it congested and missed the open spaces designed like in Paris. Timeless.

Also London has what may be a terminal problem now with rancid Islamic fundamentalism. They allowed too many immigrants from Pakistan and they have brought the worst of the 3rd world with them.

If you look at Al Qaeda, it’s extremist have a strong dose of these backward Islamists. It’s sad and the survey of Muslims about the London bombings must have scared the hell out of them.

The percentage of UK based Muslims sympathetic to the bombing of civilians should have shaken them out of their slumber. Not sure outside of the intel agencies that is has though. My understanding is that the French are really much tougher. They don’t play games. And now if some “preacher” goes out of bounds, they deport him!

Sarko is on the right track there. The UK probably not and we are in the middle between stupidity and reality.

Not been to Germany. Frankly it’s one European nation I do not have a fondness to visit. And that meant no World Cup visit. Funny, I heard the government had to give away cars in lotteries to promote people there to be friendly to tourists. I don’t find that surprising. A lot of the German people I’ve come across in NYC are frankly humorless and lacking in social niceties we are used to in business conversations.

The attitude was frankly insufferable.
