SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- President-elect Barack Obama will nominate Nobel laureate Steven Chu as energy secretary and Lisa Jackson to lead the Environmental Protection Agency, according to media reports Wednesday. Obama is also expected to name Carol Browner as energy 'czar,' the reports said. Chu, a Chinese-American, won the Nobel Prize in physics in 1997.

Working with county officials, New Jersey State Police and the EPA, the NJDEP then mobilized more than 70 inspectors to conduct upward of 1,000 compliance investigations in the two cities, the first of a series of enforcement sweeps.
Reading that bio, it sounds like the Republican Filibuster Machine Better Get Cranking for the new “climate change” agenda.

Sure, you'll support us when there's an alien invasion, you need a doomsday weapon to stop the Russians, or when a deadly asteroid is hurling towards the planet, but whenever we ask for the most reasonable demands like plutonium subsidies or low cost Fannie Mae loans for our secret underground lairs in volcanoes we get nothing but scorn.

I don’t know enough about him yet to have a strong opinion, but I do note that as Director of Lawrence Livermore he has a lot more senior bureaucratic experience than many/most cabinet appointees:

So no, he is against Corn based ethanol i.e. Burning food for a net loss financed by taxpayer subsidies, but is in favor of other alternative biofuels.
