Newsweek trashes the Bible in support of homosexual marriage

Donald E. Wildmon Founder and Chairman American Family Association

December 8, 2008

Newsweek magazine has published a lengthy article (http://www.newsweek.com/id/172653) stating that the Bible supports homosexual marriage. The article was written by Lisa Miller, Newsweek religion editor.

Miller's article is one of the most biased and distorted pieces concerning homosexual marriage ever published by any major news organization. The article is much too long for this e-mail.

Dr. Albert Mohler has offered a response to the Newsweek article. I suggest you read Mohler’s article (http://www.albertmohler.com/blog_read.php?id=2881) and then read Miller's Newsweek article.

Mohler made a significant point in his response: "The national news media are collectively embarrassed by the passage of Proposition 8 in California. Gay rights activists are publicly calling on the mainstream media to offer support for gay marriage, arguing that the media let them down in November. It appears that Newsweek intends to do its part to press for same-sex marriage. Many observers believe that the main obstacle to this agenda is a resolute opposition grounded in Christian conviction. Newsweek clearly intends to reduce that opposition."

Take Action! Send an e-mail to Newsweek telling Newsweek you are disappointed with its distorted interpretation of scripture. Forward this e-mail to your friends and family. They need to see how the media distorts scripture to support same-sex marriage. Ask them to send an e-mail to Newsweek:

Thomas E. Ascheim, CEO Newsweek 251 W. 57th St., New York, NY 10019 Phone: (212) 445-5245

Looks like they think David and Nathan had a tryst. The writer has clearly missed the entire Biblical message.

I wonder if they knew that was the actual Bible passage when they pulled that comment? I realize the context was in poor taste, but it was the actual Bible passage. John 12:14.

Send an e-mail to Newsweek telling Newsweek

No, a better idea would be to have a prominent conservative publicly condemn that rag in harsh terms. Don't send emails or letters to that piece of used toilet paper (My apologies to used toilet paper). That magazine is pure leftist propaganda, I don't even read it for free at the dentist or doctor's office.

Newsweek and the perverted may trash the Bible all they wish, that does not take away from it’s truths and power. Never has, never will. I do believe this will be a time of “sifting” out the faithful, I clearly see it moving in that direction, so stand stong.

Marie Jon has a good article (”There will be change” at renewamerica.us) about this very thing, focusing on the lack of principles that Obama demonstrates.

"I will dance and give out candy when newsweak and time go out chapter 11."

I'm amazed that they are both being printed. Who buys that trash? I haven't bought either in many years. The Internet will eventually eat them alive. By the time either News Mag comes out, it's way old news anyway.

I’ve read a few issues of newweek lately, and determined that they are definately Satanically influenced. I had determined never again to read an issue of that evil magazeen disguised as hard news (and information)!

Well then I guess David and Jonathan (according to them) aren’t in the presence of God (and His Son) at this very moment-becuase both OT (Leviticus) and NT (Romans, etc) condemn homosexual behavior (of couse we know that they really loved eachother as brothers, and good friends-and that David was married more than once).

The only time I read this crap is while waiting in the doctors office. I think they are the only ones that buy it.

Leviticus 18:22 “ ‘Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable.

“There are an abundance of homosexual apologists who have perverted the scriptures in many and juvenile ways, to support the idea, pirmarilly, that because the Bible doesn’t specifically forbid homosexual marriage, that it is OK by God.”

They’re advancing such a stupid argument. By the same logic, the Nazis could say the Holocaust of the Jews is OK because after all, the Bible never uses the term “Nazi holocaust.” “Internet pornography” is a term you won’t find in scripture either. Does that mean it’s OK?

God not only gave us His Holy Word but he also gave us a brain to discern truth from error. Prohibitions against murder and lust pretty much sum up Biblical opposition to the Nazi holocaust and internet porn.

On the issue topic, Jesus Christ definining marriage as an inherently co-ed institution(Matthew 19:4-6) and condemning all sexual activity outside of that relationship(Mark 7:21) pretty much sum up the Bible’s negative position concerning homosexual behavior and marriage “redefinitions.”

These same leftists will then turn around and say slaughtering animals for food and driving an SUV are unforgivable sins yet there exists absolutely no Bible verses to support either of those contentions.

I would respect them more if they would just come forward and admit that the Bible does condemn homosexual behavior, they just don’t happen to agree with those prohibitions. Is it too much to ask the Left to be intellectually honest? Apparently so.

When will Miller write an article proving that the Holy Quran supports same-sex “marriage”?
