The more things change, the more they
stay . . . well, you know. And looking at President-elect Barack Obama's top appointments, it's easy to wonder whether convention has triumphed over change -- and centrists over progressives.
A quick run-down: Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, who supported the Iraq war until she initiated her presidential bid, has been handed the Cabinet's big plum: secretary of state. And Bush's second defense secretary, Robert Gates, will become Obama's first defense secretary. The Obama foreign policy adviser regarded as the most liberal in his inner circle, Susan E. Rice, has been picked for the U.N. ambassador slot. Obama is elevating this job to Cabinet rank, but he's still sending Rice to New York -- and in politics and policy, proximity to power matters. For national security adviser, Obama has picked James L. Jones. The retired four-star general was not hawkish on the Iraq war and seems to be a non-ideologue who possesses the right experience for the job. But he probably would have ended up in a McCain administration, and his selection has not heartened progressives.

The Obamacorns are just now figuring out that "change" means, Clinton III. LOL!! Fools! The same old DemocRATS with a bunch of new slogans and bumpers stickers.

The early cynics were right. He was only driving Miss Hillary.
Can't wait. Nobama is no leader.
Catfights and factions will result in scandal-ridden news a la '90's.
Oh joy.
bttt
You had to know that they would snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. The average Lib activist has to be enraged about something at all times in order to feel that they're accomplishing something.
LMAO!

Peggy and I are still waiting for our free gas and free mortgage coupons!
Or to borrow from the leftists’ vocabulary, 0bama is just Hillary’s lawn jockey.
Maybe Obama knows he’s President of all the people of the United States - and NOT just President of the “left wing”.
Naw. It's a strategem to get him re-elected in 2012. The real fun begins in the second term.
Bwahahahahahahahha ( Whine, Whine)
Little do people know what they are in for. He is JUST getting started.
Obama was smart. He sat down and got together some of the best advisers in the US, hell in the world, and simply asked: “What is that I can say, or do, no matter what it is, to get 50.001% of the people to vote for me taking into account the current administrations approval ratings?”
He did exactly as he was advised and here we are. He was able to give a good speech written by a building full of BS’ers who took weeks of staff meetings to get it just right. Whether he believed the words or not didn’t matter one bit, the only thing that mattered was if “we” believed that “he” believed whatever was being said.
He will throw the odd bone to the far left, but I think he knows already that to get to term two and REALLY make a legacy for himself he needs to go closer to the middle than he ever promised the far left, for his first term that is. If the people are stupid enough to reelect him with a rising economy THAT is when we will need the industrial sized jar of Vaseline.
The only saving grace I see here is that with the economy on the rocks his hands will be tied much tighter than he ever hoped, and he will prove to be so much like Carter that he will fall in 2012.
bump for later
Well, maybe the catfights and scandals will keep Obama too busy to do too much damage.
I can’t imagine what it is like to be a Dim right now. If you voted for Obama because you disliked the Clintons and you wanted ‘change,’ how does it feel to see a Clinton II administration? How does it feel to be a Hillary supporter, knowing how badly the Obots dissed you and your candidate (I’ve visited the Hilliary sites), only to see your girl kiss up so she can get a job? What does it feel like to see Gates still in office? Add to that, Obama’s statements that things are worse than they seem and his attempts to dampen expectations for ‘change.’
You couldn’t pay me to be a Dim right now. There must be terrible dissapointment in the ranks.
Exactly. Because he really doesn’t know a thing, he’ll learn the worst from these people then slowly weed them out and replace them with even more liberal people. Or maybe not, how many murderers were tried at Nuremburg? How many extremists would it take?
To people like Obama, all people with the exception of himself, are the same. It will not surprise me if he throws the people that voted for him on the dung heap.
Sorry, David - you flunk. You're still a shill for the Obama administration, just like you were before the election.
