If you had any questions about how differently the economy will be covered with Barack Obama in the White House they were answered by George Stephanopoulos on Sunday when he credited the president-elect with causing the recent stock market rally as well as better than expected sales the day after Thanksgiving.Next thing ya know, (they) will be saying that 0bama caused the gas prices to go down, and there's peace on earth...wait a minute, I heard my liberal/socialist/democrat sis in law say that yesterday...sheesh.

This is mild. I talking with folks over the holiday, it is clear that liberals and moderates are projecting every possible positive attribute to Obama. It is beyond Clinton, and has reached a level of worship I never seriously thought could occur in any first world nation.
The fall of Obama will be painful. Expectations are cult-like at this point.

No, Obama and his minions caused the first crash (Freddie and Fannie) and they caused the subsequent downturns after the election. They also caused fear due to the “we want everyone’s 401ks” announcement. To give him credit for ANYTHING in the financial sector is stupid when he’s not even in office yet.

Yeah the rally the days after he was “elected?” The DO had lost about 20% in a week. Hey george some of us understand the Soros manipulations plus CRA, Fannie/Freddie insurgents, Citigroup insurgents liek Rubin, plus Cloward-Piven.

The reality is that the market is very much about perception and emotion, and as such can be affected by the media. Part of the reason the dot com bubble lasted as long as it did during the Clinton administration is that the media were such cheerleaders for the Clinton economy. We were being told at that time how the Dow was headed for over 15,000, and recessions were a thing of the past. I don't think I've ever heard as much glee from the media about an up day on Wallstreet as I routinely did during the Clinton administration, and it will be the same with Obama. It will be hard to stomach, but the upside is that at least you can make some of your money back while the media paints a rosy picture of the ‘Obama economy’. Ultimately, we have to get back to sound fundamentals or we will continue to have these wild swings in the market.

The Obama ‘rally’ can be summarized as follows:
S&P 500 close on Nov 4 - 1005.75
S&P 500 close on Nov 28 - 896.24
The Obama ‘rally’ is a loss of 11% in the roughly three weeks since he won the election.
Change we can believe in.

Here is my question, and it is a serious question to anybody out there who can answer it.
How is George qualified to say any of this? Why is it that some non-financial, non-retail, non-anything can make a blanket statement like this as though there is any factual basis?
I am confused how people like this can say these things and there is no challenge to their expertise or knowledge on the subject.
As I said, maybe I’m missing something, please enlighten me.
