PRISTINA (Reuters) - Germany declined to comment on Saturday on reports that three Germans arrested on suspicion of throwing explosives at an EU office in Kosovo were intelligence officers.

The explosive charge was thrown on November 14 at the International Civilian Office (ICO), the office of EU Special Representative Pieter Feith, who oversees Kosovo's governance, but caused only minor damage. The men were detained on Thursday.

The three were questioned on Saturday by a Pristina district court judge who ordered them to be detained until December 22.

A defense lawyer told reporters that the three were suspected of having committed an act of terrorism.

A spokesman for the German Foreign Ministry in Berlin confirmed that three Germans had been arrested, but declined to make any further comment as an investigation was under way.

A police source in Kosovo told Reuters: "They are members of the BND," but gave no further details.

The German weekly Der Spiegel also said the men worked for the German intelligence agency BND, and that they had told investigators they had been examining the scene of the explosion, but had not been involved in it.

Well, there’s been long standing speculation of direct German and Austrian involvement in the Balkan wars. Specifically, the Slovenes and the Croats were armed by Austrian and German equipment, even during the so-called arms embargo which seemed to apply only the Serbs and Muslims.

However, what specific interests Germans would have in Kosovo, now, after the whole mess... I’d be at a loss as to what their purpose/interest would be. Seems to me they’d have a vested interest in the whole place (Balkans) being as quiet and as calm as can possibly be, as they have other issues to deal with (economic crisis, resurgent Russia...)

Who knows. One thing I will say is that the Balkans is a conspiracy theory central. Everything that can be imagined about anything in the world generally is imagined down there.

And is quite often true. This is largely because the Balkans has been used as Europe's chessboard for centuries. Everybody from the Turks to the Germans to even the French have screwed around in Balkan politics.

When it come to Germany, think Drang Nach Osten -- The Drive Eastward-- tried WWI, WWII and in the 1990's. Originally, Poland & Czechoslovakia were the targets, but the Balkans proved much less protected and more vulnerable.

There are German fingerprints all over the destruction of Yugoslavia, including the faked BND report that was used as an excuse for the 1999 NATO Bombing.

Germany blamed Serbia for WWI and its aftermath in Germany. WWII, Germany bombed the crap out of Belgrade in Operation Punishment, one of the first terror bombings of the war and it killed thousands. But Operation Punishment and Serb resistance cost Germany precious time, delaying Operation Barbarossa into Russia, and this is what cost Germany the war. (I also recall reading, during the 1999 NATO Bombing of Yugoslavia, that one of the NATO pilots was the grandson of one of the Luftwaffe pilots who had bombed Belgrade in 1941.)

Lots of bad blood between Germany and Serbia, going back nearly a century -- and Germans are not exactly the forgiving type.

“Lots of bad blood between Germany and Serbia...”

And there is lots of bad blood between US citizens that were outraged at Clinton’s cowardly bombing of Serbian civilians, to benefit Muslims who wanted half the Serbian land - and got it.

Probably the Albanians did it and blamed it on Germans to cover it up. The EU has not recognized Kosovo and the EU mission wants to agree with the Serbs to remain neutral on the question, so some K-Albanians are against the EU mission.

I do not know, but your probably is about as good as anything else I have read/heard. I really do not see how it would be in particular, Germany's interest to plot a war anywhere.

In 2005 the BND (apparently intentionally) leaked a memo on Thaçi exposing his connections to organized crime. German newspapers are now speculating that Thaçi is holding a grudge against the BND which lead to the arrest of the German agents. The German agents were indeed only documenting the damages done to the EU office.

Look at this ; -) Who gets along accustomed to the absurd finds himself usually very well.
The whole thing is amusing.
When the Foundling bites it babysitter in her tits helps only one thing: Mrs. Merkel recognizes the Kosovo simply once again, double-recognition so to speak. And then the German Federal Intelligence Service may also invite this catchpoles of UCK officially, lastly these funny Hadliner this fasist criminal organisation is receiving pensions in millions to “reintegrate” into this absurd “Statehood” by the European Union which was afraid it will never be able to cop with their criminal activities
Now let us wait for the time till the USA dances into this state to install its anti-missile defense toys in army bases of the former JNA. Then this Ex-Jugo Gang will play that real trump card for blackmail so Mrs Clinton can finish what her husband has started.
I have been working in this gulaq for 3 years, poor idiots...

What I don’t get is, how does photographing the site of the attack make you the terrorist. Although I’m in Germany, maybe I missed something in the news because of that. Still, the case built against them seems non existent to me.
