On the eve of a Republican National Convention invoking 9/11 symbols, sound bytes and imagery, half (49.3%) of New York City residents and 41% of New York citizens overall say that some of our leaders "knew in advance that attacks were planned on or around September 11, 2001, and that they consciously failed to act," according to the poll conducted by Zogby International. The poll of New York residents was conducted from Tuesday August 24 through Thursday August 26, 2004. Overall results have a margin of sampling error of +/-3.5.

I’m pretty sure many in the intelligence community did have facets of the knowledge of impending attacks. They just weren’t allowed to talk to each other thanks to Gorelick. Had they been allowed to communicate what they knew, they might have been able to put it all together.
At any given moment there are probably hundreds of threats... knowing about a potential “threat” isn’t the problem - knowing which one is REAL is the trick.

Possibly you are right. However, I think all manner of bizarre theories abound because people can no longer trust the veracity of traditional sources of information i.e. goverment officials and media “creatures.” There is a dearth of leadership; hence the people elected an outsider in desperation. When he fails, which he is bound to do, chaos will reign until Caesar comes.

I have Depression, Dyscalculia and ADHD and I don’t believe that US leaders had foreknowledge of the 9/11 attacks.
And you’re right: mental illness is much more widespread than most people can imagine.
Some knew of the impending attacks, but they were DEMOCRATS.
They weren’t asked about vague attacks, they were asked about the attacks on 9/11 specifically and half of the city believed we “let” it happen, which implies that a lot of them think Bush and Cheney did it, a widely held opinion which you can see on left wing message boards and youtube, etc.
Just look at the shape New York is in and you can understand why such a stupid answer is given. And the Mayor’s leadership and the NY Times encourages such nonsense.

That’s why it’s called a transition year. 911 was an event that took years of planning—about 5 years which places when planning took place in 1996 under the clintoon regime.
