Like anything else these days, I’m sure there are ham radio forums and sites where you could read up and get up to speed pretty quickly.
I’ve looked into it in a cursory way in the past (5-6 years ago), and even then, you could get some pretty nice stuff that looked like a big walkie-talkie for pretty reasonable. Detachable small antenna for portability, that allows you to attach a serious fixed antenna.

When that happens, I'll plug in a really long extension cord, turn on my TV to the mandatory Presidential Address, and throw the set out of my 3rd floor window. It will be a kind of performance art to experience Obama's voice as it doppler shifts at 32 ft/sec/sec briefly until the set impacts on the pavement.
Maybe Obama will start a new war, WWII was the only thing that got us out of the Great Depression.

We haven't done enough to resist the tide and now I believe we're already past the tipping point.
I know I’ve gotten a little paranoid (doesn’t mean they’re not out to get you) but the media is making this whole thing so much worse. One thing we didn’t have in past crises was 24/7 news.
The stock market reacts, in part, to consumer confidence yet we’re told the whole world is crashing several times a day.
The big three offer up a stunning self-fulfilling prophecy that they are “going under” and the media pounds that into our heads. Who would buy a car from a company that is going down for the count? However, I am shopping Circuit City who went bankrupt because the perception is they’ve turned it around.
The media is not reporting any alternate scenarios for Obama’s “tax us to death” policies, no coming fight from the Republicans, no chance of stopping it. So people are selling their stock pre-capital gains.
They hand over 700 billion dollars for a “bailout” and talk a trillion for healthcare and even the guy working at McDonalds can see the free cash is going to run out at some point.
I won’t guess why the media is manipulating the public but they are. They report all of Obama’s proposed tax increases as a done deal. Headlines scream the auto industry is dying. The news is nothing but doom and gloom without even a glimmer of hope.
No, we may not survive this financial crisis as we did in the past. In the past, people had hope.

The underground structure is already in place I believe. Although it will be hard for a tv station to broadcast analog signals without the good ol US permission slip from the FCC.
Ham is different, but still requires a license from, again, the FCC. But the intelligence world has signal trackers that can home in on “unauthorized broadcasts”.
You can pretty much rule out “unauthorized” broadcasts of a subversive nature in the digital electronic surveillance age. Are you aware that there is satellite coverage passing over the US every 8 minutes? And who controls those satellites?
What I’m telling you is that the government possess a vast network of covert electronic intelligence gathering capacity. Much of it is military and used for foreign intelligence. But who controls the military?
It might take a while. Democrats where swept into power by 52% of our fellow citizens. They are going to take that as a signal that more government is desired, versus having had enough of too much government. I think many baby boomers that just lost their ass in this market are going to be clamoring for more from government..
Higher taxes plus cap-and-trade will make sure we don’t go into a growth period anytime soon.
That’s why the 0bamabots are telling us it will take 5 years to see positive results.
It won’t be long until the drumbeat starts to repeal term limits from the Constitution. “It will take way more than 8 years to clean up Bush’s mess and bring fundamental change to America.”
Some guest on FBC recently told viewers to enjoy this Christmas, because next year it might be so bad that you’ll be lucky to have food on the table.

Dictators come to power in times of extreme economic crises. It's interesting that 0bama and Rahm Emmanuel look at the crises as an 'opportunity'.
And Obama promises us a domestic army that will be as well-equipped as the real army, only Obama's army will be used to take care of domestic "problems." We are among the domestic "problems" to be taken care of.
The crap part of this is there was no crisis....until The One became the "President Elect"
Capital is fleeing the stock market BECAUSE of Obama.
