You are correct WRT Ford. GM has tons of unencumbered assets to back a loan. There are just no willing lenders.

GM has a negative book value of -$60 Billion. Even if they had any money to lend, no bank in it's right mind would lend to these crooks. Only Congress would think this is a good idea.

At any rate, even if GM gets the money, this will just postpone the inevitable. They'll be back.

I'm all for a loan, I viscerally oppose a bailout.

The term "bailout" is over-hyped.

The money was not given unconditionally to AIG for example. They are under obligation to pay it back to the Gov't.

You don’t know me, but I need a loan. I’m insolvent, I overpay my people, make more expensive products that are equal to, but not better than, others available.

If you agree to pay me now, I agree to pay you just as soon as I get my act straightened out, and if my union doesn’t decide to strike in the middle of my recovery.

Sound OK to you? Not to me.

Calling this is a loan is like calling forced sodomy a compulsory prostrate exam.

In Other News...

GM, Ford and Chrystler CEO’s are ditching their existing corporate jets and pre-purchasing larger jets because they found that their existing jets are not large enough to haul back the Bricks of taxpayer money that Congress is about to bestow on them.

Ok, so a few idiots reached a compromise.

What now?

I think the Republicans in the senate will still filibuster. Sure, we’ll lose Bond, Voinovich, maybe Grassley, but RINOs like Snowe and Collins don’t have anything to gain by this thing.

Besides, didn’t Bush still say that he’d veto it?

If so, this whole exercise is completely meaningless.

Will be interesting to see where McCain stands on this. I fully expect him to vote for it.

Why is either action a problem? We live in a world economy. Executives don’t have time to play ridiculous PC games and India is the future

Because one of the ostensible reasons for this bailout was to prevent the loss of American jobs.

I love MITT!

We have got to urge House and Senate Republicans to start acting like Conservatives now more than ever and stop this massive push toward socialism.

I’m sick of RINOs!

Obama bailed out of the Senate, so there’s one less vote for it.

Shoot give Romney all three. The guy is a superb manager and would turn the whole game around in a few years.

He wouldn’t want the job though.

Let Sarah be Sarah and do her work in Alaska.
