New Orlean's Ray Nagin For Obama HUD Head?
Bayou Buzz ^ | Nov 14 2008 | Jeff Crouere

Posted on 11/16/2008 9:47:33 AM PST by BBell

As we thankfully near the end of the Nagin administration, everything seems to be falling apart at City Hall. Therefore, it is interesting that there are sources reporting this morning that Ray Nagin is being considered for the position of Secretary of Housing and Urban Development in the new Obama administration. According to one leading Democrat, Nagin is on the short list for the job because of “his experience leading New Orleans during the post-Katrina period.”

While there has been significant rebuilding in New Orleans including a major revitalization of the public housing developments in the past three year, there is little doubt that the pace of recovery has been slow. There is also little doubt that Nagin has provided very poor leadership and that much more would have been done in New Orleans if someone else had been Mayor.

If Nagin is selected for this cabinet position, he will have to resign his position as Mayor of New Orleans, necessitating an early special election. Therefore, Barack Obama might allow New Orleans to rid itself of Nagin one year earlier and give the city as chance to elect a competent person as Mayor.

This is on page 2 of the following article in the Times-Picayune:

Nagin reports on his travails with the media

FROM N.O. TO D.C.? The week's most bizarre political rumor was undoubtedly the report that President-elect Obama is considering Nagin as a candidate for secretary of Housing and Urban Development because of his experience in leading New Orleans during the post-Katrina period.

While Nagin's early departure from City Hall would undoubtedly cause cheering among many New Orleanians -- perhaps including the council's two at-large members, one of whom would become acting mayor -- many political observers rate Nagin's prospects of joining the Cabinet as about as good as his chances of becoming the Hornets' back-up point guard.

So....how closely is Nagin tied to ACORN? In this coming administration, the head of HUD may be a more important position than Secretary of State.

obama will see to it the United States is like Holland....95% on welfare. In order to ‘rule’ he must have US citizens as helpless as those welfare family’s in New Orleans. Even now there are citizens, mostly Negros who think they will never have to buy gas, pay mortgages, etc. as Obama will do it for them. Bill Ayers will have a say so in education, it will be indoctrination. What was that word, er..ah..Change? Give me a break. All I see are just the Socialists taking over..........
