Obama Splits Nebraska's Electoral Votes
Newsroom America ^ | 11-15-2008

President-elect Obama has again made history by splitting traditionally Republican Nebraska's electoral votes, winning one of them in a state that has never split.

After all remaining ballots were counted Friday, Obama emerged with a 3,325-vote lead over Republican John McCain in unofficial results in the 2nd Congressional District. The district covers Douglas County, which includes Omaha.

Nebraska has five electoral votes. It is the only state besides Maine that split electoral votes.

Results in Missouri, with 11 electoral votes, are still not complete so the winner in that state has not been announced. Officials have until Tuesday to complete their count.

After Nebraska's single electoral vote, Obama now has 365 electoral votes to McCain's 162.

RINOS NEVER WIN

The only consolation from McCain not winning the election, is that MCCAIN didn't the election. (I hope that makes sense somehow.)

I’m convinced Mickey Mouse could have run on the democratic ticket and won. It’s political momentum (plus $600M in cold hard cash, leaving aside for the moment where it all came from). I hope public campaign financing will be dead and buried after this fiasco and that no one will ever again believe the two big democrat lies: 1) I will accept public campaign financing, and 2) I will cut your taxes.

If only Fred Thompson didn't run a half-assed campaign. Idiot. He thought he was going to be annointed and wouldn't have to put much effort into it. That might have worked had he gotten in a month or so earlier before the money-people and most voters had already chosen a candidate. By the time he got off his ass and entered the race, he needed to persuade people away from other candidates, and put forth maybe 10% of the needed effort.

As much as I like Thompson, he's just too old to be electable - which was one of McCain's problems. I know, superficial judgment, but that's the judgment the idle-brained electorate makes.

“...But when 4.1 million R’s sit on their hands it will be hard to win with anybody.”

And thanks to them we are stuck with Socialist Emperor Obama and all the damage he is going do to national security, the economy and the Supreme Court.

With friends like that John McCain doesn’t need enemies. They sat this one out and put America on life support.

whose bone-headed idea was it to give the 2nd District its own electoral vote? You bet it was a bone to Ernie Chambers to exclude any rural areas from it. Plus i dont see how it did us any good to keep Madison county in the 1st district when we give the rats the Omaha metro.

If only ... what? It’s a pic of a guy who endorsed McCain in 2000 and ran such a poor campaign he couldnt make it past South Carolina.

Meanwhile, we have people touting palin as some savior when in fact she ran on a losing ticket and has been effectively Quayled by the Obamedia and her fuzzy interviews.

It’s like the Carter-Reagan-Mondale era only in reverse.

We will need a SHARP, SMART, PRINCIPLED, CONSERVATIVE LEADERS who can reach out to YOUTH, MINORITIES, SUBURBAN VOTERS, CATHOLICS, as well as traditional GOP groups.

If we had the perfect candidate, he would have beaten Mccain in the primaries.

quote from a recent post-election analysis: "Turnout in last week’s election increased from four years ago but fell far short of some forecasts largely because many Republican voters either stayed home or left blank the presidential section of their ballots."(italics added)
