Vast tracts of our most treasured public lands, supposedly set aside in perpetuity for Americans, are no longer controlled by the United States government. Instead, they have been invaded and taken over by Mexicos violent criminal drug organizations to grow marijuana.
Even more shocking: Mexican cartels have been growing marijuana for at least 10 years in Sequoia National Park, one of the crown jewels of the system. Nature-loving hikers are compelled to accept that parts of Sequoia are "no go zones" during the growing season.
These Mexican marijuana messes are an ecological disaster. They are not innocent little plots that leave a minimal footprint. They are industrial grow sites, toxic stews where the gangsters use dangerous and illegal chemical herbicides, pesticides and growth hormones that result in long-lasting environmental damage....The Mexican gangsters (who are often illegal aliens) routinely cut down trees, divert streams with systems of PVC pipe and poach wildlife for food....
In addition to the pollution, there is the danger to hikers of wandering into a booby-trapped pot grove guarded by Mexican thugs with full-auto weapons. Several law enforcement officers have been injured in altercations with growers. No hiker has been killed yet....
Unfortunately, the environmentalists who should be defending the parks dont care that our natural heritage icons have been invaded and despoiled. The flagship green organization, the Sierra Club, has said that it has "other priorities."
The Sierra Club was once a stalwart non-partisan defender of the planet and enemy of pollution....
Interestingly, an October 9 article in the Santa Barbara Independent nailed the current nature of the Sierra Club by characterizing it as "a left-leaning organization that focuses on environment and nature conservation issues."[Sierra Club, PUEBLO Announce Endorsements, By Jenny Pedersen and Shannon Switzer] That description is perhaps more polite than calling Clubbers "socialists in hiking boots" ...
In order to build a bigger left wing (with help from puppetmaster moneybags George Soros), the Sierra Club has moved in recent years to partnership with Open-Borders extremists. Speaking out against Mexican criminals poisoning our protected lands doesnt fit with the organizations current politics.
...the Sierra Club has been deeply engaged in fighting against the US-Mexico border fence, despite the tons of trash left every year by illegal crossers. Obviously, the environmentally appropriate position would be pro-fence. But the leading organization of the environmental movement has gone over to the dark side.
The Sierra Club cashed in its conservationist integrity when it secretly accepted a donation of over $100 million on the condition that the organization not mention massive immigration/population growth as being environmentally harmful. The donor, Wall Street investor David Gelbaum, stated, "I did tell [Executive Director] Carl Pope in 1994 or 1995 that if they ever came out anti-immigration, they would never get a dollar from me.
As a result of environmentalists corruption, no powerful voice prods Congress to stop Mexican crime syndicates taking over parklands...p>
Ifthe parks are to be saved from destruction by foreigners, far more policing will be needed. That might alter the basic nature of the parks, but it may be too late in the day to worry about that. Americas borders have been open for too many years.
As things are, probably it will take the death of an innocent hiker to convince Washington to do whats necessary and to do it soon.
Anybody have any idea why the sale of marijuana is profitable enough to cause the Mexicans to plant it in our national parks?
The gov would come down on this if it were tobacco being grown..
They finally noticed. I knew at least 3 guys (not Mexicans either) with “fields” in Saguaro National Monument when I was in high school, that was over 20 years ago. Wide open spaces with no traceable deed are a great place for illegal activity, you probably won’t be there when the cops find it, you don’t own it so they can’t bust you that way, and unless you’re a complete moron even if they catch you walking into it you’ve got lots of plausible deniability.
The War on Some Drugs has pushed Americans to outsource their drug production to armed criminal gangs, and this is just a predictable result. Wouldn’t you rather people buy pot in the same way they buy cigarettes, openly and with taxes down at the corner store? Wouldn’t you rather deal with a guy like Al Gore, bragging about how he grew tobacco, than with a violent gangster?
With the incoming regime, it probably won't.
As an aside, it's interesting that the federal Drug War JBTs are AWOL on this as well. I guess they're too busy raiding the pot farms of white hillbillies in places like the hollers of Eastern Kentucky to have time to take on the wetbacks running them in California national parks.
Well, you see, here you can grow and distribute illegal contraband AND receive tax credits, food stamps, free health care and SS once you retire.
Mexico on the other hand...
I guess the reason was they didn't want citizens to interfere with their drug supply.
bump
Of course not; they are leftists first and foremost. Environmentalist, gay rights activist, civil rights activist, etc., are just disguises worn by Marxists. Once they have won the struggle (and they may very well have won in this last election), the sheep's clothing will be discarded and the wolf will step out into the light.
Supply and demand. As long as there is a demand, there will be a supply. The sellers set the price so long as sales continue.
The feds go through the national parks in the Appalachians pretty hard core. they have nothing else to do.
That is what I do not understand - I can go on Google and see a 6 inch round stone in my garden clear as a bell, can the DEA not see these plantations?
For a while I was ambivalent re/ WOD. Not any more. Let “recreational” drug use proceed as people see fit.
However, no handouts for them. No health care for them. They get lung cancer from smoking weed? Tough. Their bad. They get sinus issues from too much blow? Tough. Their suffering is their own doing. They can’t hold a job because they are wasted zombies? Tough. They can live in a van down by the river.
It’s their life; far be it for the government to interfere.
The Sierra Club “has other priorities”.
yeah, like smokin’ the stuff.
Just doing the work Americans.......wait a minute.......
Wanted: Several dozen snipers.
Wouldn’t THAT be fun!
When beheadings start showing up in the national parks...maybe...just maybe they may fly a helicopter over to make sure the criminals are ok.
Oh, I know, the Gestapo thugs, are too busy kicking in doors in the middle of the night of innocent 90 year old grandmothers and gunning them down.
Probably pee their pants if they went up against any "real" bad guys.
As far as profitiablity, it is because it is illegal.
And if you GROW it in the U.S., you don’t have to risk getting caught at the border.
And U.S. National Parks are large, uninhabited and largely unpatrolled. You can’t just grow that stuff in a corn field by the side of the highway (see “illegal”, above).
Where else would you grow medical marijuana?
Well you can see a 6 inch rock in your garden from a picture at least a year old if you live in one of the areas that gets photoed frequently. In my boring neighborhood where nothing exciting happens the Google pictures are missing 4 year old buildings. National parks are generally in frequent photo spots, and it’s not like these plantations are setup like cornfields in nice easily found rows. They plant a few here and there, and pot plants tend to get a color that’s pretty similar to the leafy desert plants they’ll be competing with in these areas. It’s not as easy as you think.
Sounds like we need some “weed” killer, or Agent Orange.
So why doesn’t some law enforcement agengy fly over these areas and just drop a few bombs on the areas? Wouldn’t have to use ground troops, just bomb it with somesort of a fire/high explosive bomb, everything would go swoosh, even the gangsters. We wouldn’t have to bother with them.
Two words of advice to the government: Roundup, Helicopter.
Yes.
Wrong! The Sierra Club, PETA, Greenpeace, etc., have always been Communist fronts! Their high-sounding purposes and slogans were always a lie. They care not about violence or the death of a hiker, they may even encourage it to scare people away.
Where is immigration and Homeland Security on this?
Just another “unintended consequence” of the Drug War.
Would you impose the same lack of medical care on tobacco smokers, heavy drinkers and the morbidly obese?
If so, I’m with you 100%.
Probably raiding medical marijuana distribution centers in the same western states, voter will and states' rights be damned.
Mexicans my a%s! I recently visited my good friend in northern california (near Point Arena)He took me on a hike through the forest for several miles. We hiked up a beautiful stream about every 100 yards or so there were dams built of rocks and plastic sheeting with 12 volt pumps and plastic pipe running into the redwoodtrees where the pot growers have hanging baskets for their plants.Old car battries were everywere all the sites we saw looked abandoned trash, old clothes, cans, unbelivable.Later when we went into town he started pointing out to me all the local hippie kids with brand new four wheel drive trucks. He says that the local economy is very dependent on pot sales.
As things are, probably it will take the death of an innocent hiker to convince Washington to do whats necessary and to do it soon.
Sorry, I don’t even believe this regime would do anything, much less the incoming one.
Yeah because we don’t have enough problems with brush fires in the desert southwest as it is, we need people to drop fire bombs.
The gangsters probably aren’t even there most of the time. That’s part of why they call it weed, it grows good with little to no human assistance.
Johnny Sutton must be happy.
From the article:
“As things are, probably it will take the death of an innocent hiker to convince Washington to do whats necessary and to do it soon.”
Are you kidding me? How many American citizens have died at the hands of the criminal invaders..one more isn’t going to make a difference to the powers that be.
“Would you impose the same lack of medical care on tobacco smokers, heavy drinkers and the morbidly obese?”
In a heartbeat. We have to get away from this whole notion that we are “entitled” to “free” or heavily subsidized health care. The biggest reason that the Big 3 automakers are failing is health insurance for current and retired UAW workers. At closing time, go stand outside one of their few plants still operating and take a look at the labor force walking out. Out of shape, overweight, smoking, headed for the KFC buffet. You want to pick up the health care tab for that demographic?
As for healthcare in general, people need to take care of themselves and bear the costs. In fact, if they bear the costs, they WILL take better care of themselves. We all have car insurance, but we don’t turn in the bill for a routine oil change to the insurance company. Health care should be NO different. In fact, if people are picky about the costs of care, they can use the free market to drive down prices and bring in efficiency.
Yep, smokers reap what they sow. They can smoke all they want, and pay all they can for the result.
Might as well put it to good use. Spray it on the drug warriors!
You read my mind.
“Wanted: Several dozen snipers.
Wouldnt THAT be fun!”
Works for me!
Sell these forests to the lumber companies OR
Use them as live-fire live-target training grounds for SEAL/green beret/deltaforce snipers
GMTA!
The Sierra Club is full of pot smoking new-age hippies. I gave up on them and their agenda years ago when they got so wacko.
Only one? Probably wouldn't be noticed.
Strange but true: Homeland Security doesn’t have the legal authority here. In the case of national parks, it is the Department of Interior, and in the case of national forests, it is the Department of Agriculture.
The Microsoft mapping/satellite thingie picked up my new roof within 3 weeks!
Google still shows a vacant lot next door, and the “new” house there is 6 years old.
“VIVA AMERICA! WHAT A COUNTRY!”
Obama is the king of the potheads.
Cartels in the forest with assault rifles? In NM varmints can be shot on site. Another wonderful thing about the Remington 700,,, doesn’t eject casings. Remember, leave the forest clean as you found it,,dont litter!
Back in those days I grew it! (Oohs and ahs from the crowd)
I hung it up in my garage and I dried it! (Gasps and increasing cheers)
I trimmed the buds and weighed it and bagged it! (Whoops and applause)
I rolled it and I smoked it! (Crowd goes nuts)
And then I supported the American economy by buying every snack food and drink 7-11 had to offer! (Oh how presidential!!!)
