House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) took a whack at the Bush administration on Wednesday for failing to disclose all of the financial institutions that are getting emergency loans under the $700 billion bailout.
Boehner said the Treasury and Federal Reserve should comply with a Freedom of Information Act request into who is receiving taxpayer money, and they must begin providing lawmakers and taxpayers all information about how they are using federal tax dollars.
Boehner said the bipartisan negotiations behind the financial bailout package stressed the need for meaningful oversight of how the money was being spent.

We wanted Boehner to vote “nay” but he didn’t.......both times.
So Boehner is admitting he didn’t know what the hell he was voting for when he cast his vote?
Get lost Boner - RETIRE!
Give somebody else a chance as Republican House leader.
And people in hell want ice water.
This guy is such a putz.
Too late, Mr. Boehner. You never should have supported this horrible legislation in the first place — on principle.
He admits he didn’t know what this bill contained. Then he complains after he supported it twice.
Step aside and let new blood take over Mr. Boner.
How about starting with transparency in Boehner’s own office?
I suppose he should have read the bailout bill before signing it.
How convenient. Pass a bill and THEN sat what you want out of it. We need to clear the tent of faux conservatives.
*sat should be say.
What an idiot! Why did he shove this crap sandwich down our throats if he didn’t understand the terms?
At the time, the smart, patriotic Americans were all screaming about how the deal gave Paulson unprecedented power and no oversight.
I agree with what others have posted on this thread.. Mr. Boehner should step down and let some young blood take over as OUR voice... He has no credibility to whine about something he voted for TWICE !!
This “bailout” should have NEVER happned in the first place.. the markets WILL self-correct over time without putting up taxpayers money to try and “fix it” -— these actins will only delay recovery IMHO..
Having said that fighting for tranparency IS IMPORTANT.. we just need someone who opposed this garbage from the beginning to be our voice.. STEP DOWN Mr. Bohner!!

PING-A-LING for comments
sucking up to keep ones leader role? yep.
Wouldn’t have had the problem if you and the rest of the republicans the American people sent to Washington to defend this nation and our rights from the radical left had voted AGAINST this damned confiscation and sellout. And had you not been spineless RINOS since 1994, you’d still be in the majority! Don’t whine now, you limp-wristed, piss ant.
Idiot, brainless, ball-less, d***less, spineless, weasel sniffing sack of monkey ****...

FYI: Las Vegas is in trouble. Tourism’s down. Lotsa layoffs. Housing is like in Florida. I hope the casino/hotel owners don’t want a bailout. Traditionally, Chapter 11 reorganization was sufficient.
BTTT
Yes the bail-out is part of the biggest fraud ever put forth on the American taxpayer. It has only caused uncertainty and the markets are responding.
Now Detroit wants a $10 billion bail-out...this isn’t going to end until they decide to stop it.
Time for these big boy to accept the mistakes they have made and pay the piper. We would all be better off with a big cut now and rebuild it back.
Now with even bigger government and the same bad politicians that brought us here for some reason we think they are going to pull us out of this...
You know, I hate when people use this term and do not emphasis the Democrat-controlled Congress
It should say "the Democrat-controlled Congress of the Bush Administration." The other way is very misleading and leaves all those libs out there with the impression it's Bush and only Bush - when it's not.
Transparency here is kind of like closing a broken screen door after the horses have escaped. It makes no difference if we see exactly how this money is flung about or not. It is all corruption from the getgo and we cannot control it, even as we see it going into pockets and offshore like this is a third world country. Well the Democrats have always wanted the US to be a third world country. Now maybe they are getting their wish.
Boehner needs to change his name to "Day late and a dollar short". Pantywaist should have been on this from day one. There would not be a bailout if it was not for his sorry A**.
Stop holding back, tell us how you really feel!!! LOL
Hey Mr. Boner:
Let’s start with the $2 TRILLION that was loaned out BEFORE the much ballyhooed bailout.
Great.
The otherwise spineles GOP's cadre of RINOs has a Boehner for the Democrats and Big Government.
“Housing is like in Florida.”
Nope. Las Vegas is way way over built. People are still coming down here.
This thread is about bailouts. Nevada and Florida are both in the top five for foreclosures. Housing in NV and FL are alike re: foreclosures.

I agree with you 100%
Boehner DEFINITELY needs to go. I nominate my local Congressman Dean Heller (R-NV). I wrote to him about not voting for the bailout and he voted NO! Every time I’ve written him about an important conservative issue, he has voted the RIGHT way EVERY time. When it came to immigration, he voted the RIGHT way. We need more Congressmen like Dean Heller and the NEW Congressman Duncan D. Hunter (R-CA)!
One can sense we have hundreds of clones of Hanoi John presiding in both Houses.
There is a difference, In Florida there are people moving in. The foreclosures are for people not making payments. In L V NV there is huge vacancy problem. I buy lots of Real Estate and it is a much different situation. If you get foreclosed in FL you have to live somewhere. You can find tenants for property you buy in foreclosure sales. In L V NV they will sit.
I agree
