A roomful of academics erupted in angry boos Tuesday morning after political analyst Michael Barone said journalists trashed Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the Republicans' vice presidential nominee, because "she did not abort her Down syndrome baby."
Barone said in an e-mail that he "was attempting to be humorous and ... went over the line."
Barone was speaking at the Palmer House Hilton in Chicago, to the 121st annual meeting of the National Association of State Universities and Land Grant Colleges, which calls itself the nation’s oldest higher-education association.
“The liberal media attacked Sarah Palin because she did not abort her Down syndrome baby," Barone said, according to accounts by attendees. "They wanted her to kill that child. ... I'm talking about my media colleagues with whom I've worked for 35 years.”

You weren’t joking, Michael. You were telling the truth. Trig Palin’s existence undermines the left’s most sacred sacrament.
I hate that Barone had to apologize for this. It’s true after all. I love how the media all acted shocked and appalled when we all know Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann and Kathleen Parker were all sitting around a fire sacrificing baby animals praying to Satan for something terrible to happen to Sarah Palin and Trig.

Barone is a brilliant guy, he should have known this was dangerous turf, even if he is right.
A woman who doesnt just talk the talk but walks the walk on something like this feels very threatening to a lot of members of the RICO media.

I heard this NUMEROUS times. Along the lines of “she had no business having that baby and is therefore irresponsible”. Sickening.
No need to apologize . . . he is absolutely correct . . . Abortion is the main sacrament of the scummy left . . . and all success in their party goes through the bloody hands of the abortionists.
It was no joke. It was an unpleasant truth about the rabid pundits on the Left.
That is the most reprehensible thing I’ve ever heard in my life. What is this world coming to? How could anyone really think that she was wrong not to abort that precious little baby? God help us all!

The Pro-Choice movement is pro-choice only if it is the correct choice. Think about the number of people in America, especially older professional women who either have aborted a downs child..or know that they would. Palin is a hell of an emotional repudiation. This is how sin enslaves.
I sure the heck wouldn't be judgmental to any freepers that have made the decision to abort a down's child. Quite frankly two years ago I would have done the same...and would now regret it.
God bless Sarah and Todd Palin. Their reward will be in heaven, not here on this earth. God couldn’t have given Trig better parents.

I often wonder if Chris Matthews children ever asked him if he considered ABORTING them to give himself a thrill down his leg?
Barone is absolutely right: Hollywood, the mainstream media, and academia all teamed up to savage a good woman whose very existence was a living reproach to their jihad for the culture of death - which will end up being the death of our beloved nation.
Wait, why was he apologizing? That wasn’t a joke. That was truth. You don’t apologize for the truth.
Not only that, but every time they see Sarah and Trig - as long as he lives - Sarah and Trig are reminders to those people of what they have done and precisely what they stand for.
Sort of like looking in a mirror of your life choices....

I get sick and tired of conservatives apologizing for saying the truth. Barone may have indeed tried to be funny (and he really isn’t, so he shouldn’t try), but he should have said something to the effect of, “my statement was a bit of hyperbole, but if you really think about it, its true and it is one explanation for the rabid media firestorm about a sitting and respected Governor. If it isn’t true, then the media and liberal elites need to explain why they held Palin to a higher standard than they held their candidate to, a candidate that had far more negative “issues.”
My wife was talking with some friends the other day (all working Moms) and when the topic of Palin came up all except my wife agreed that Palin couldnt be a good VP and have a baby at the same time. Imagine! Working moms were told by the press that a woman has to choose between career and family and they accepted it!
Between the Monica Lewinski situation where women came to accept that oral sex isnt sex and sexual harassment in the workplace is really just a private matter, and the Palin situation where a woman cant be a good mom and have a career I wonder what women wouldn't just accept if they were told to by the press.
If Sarah had aborted Trig. nobody would ever know. But the fact that she had the guts to show her baby boy to the whole world really pissed them off.
We are living in the late age when good is evil and evil is good.
