50% of Americans are centrists, compared to 20% who are liberal and 30% who call themselves conservative.

This is false.

Since the beginning of the Battleground Poll, question D3 has consistently been answered by respondents in excess of 60% that they are conservative. And liberal gets under 20%, and the much vaunted and loved "moderate" comes in a whopping 2% if memory serves me right.

In order to truly revive itself, the GOP should be more like the real John McCain in the future...

I kinda figgered you'd get a kick outta this one.

McCain was plenty conservative enough.

And with a mission for tax and spending cuts, his economic plan would have helped us a lot.

He’s right...this election wasn’t about McCain...it was about blaming the party in power...it always happens...

The good news is that OB will be Carter...1 term.

Have you ever read such a puff piece love letter to one’s self?

Put him on the list.

People need to consider that McCain lost, in large part, to the public’s abdication of personal responsibility to government. Blacks, Hispanics and their enablers in liberal circles went for the guy who promised a hand out from the people who actually work hard to get ahead. Combine that with the constant baraage of neagtivity from the TV and newspapers and the financial market crash and it’s amazing that McCain got as close as he did.

The landscape has changed. Starting with LBJ and continued onward the democrats have created a core base of people that ensures them opportunities to control Congress and the Senate as well as the WH.

As far as I’m concerned, McCain lost hay chance he ever had when he instituted the “Gang of 16” in 2005. I know he said it was to get things done in the Senate, but it was primarily to undermine the President. He was all pi$$ed off in losing to bust in his first attempt at the Oval Office. He spent too much of his time sabotageing the President and not supporting him. McCain was a brave war hero, but he is a spineless cry-baby in politics.

I’m not interested in how the party positions itself, or how it builds the party brand.

There are principles that matter to me. I will support the candidate that comes closest to representing those principles. Someone who is positioning himself is someone who doesn’t really have any principles. I’m in no mood.
