If it took 143 years after the Congress abolished slavery for Barack Obama to reach the White House, the journey from here on for another non-white aspirant to high office may happen a lot sooner as a demographic upheaval transforms the American landscape.
The emerging race map of US is clearly indicating a decline in the dominance of the white vote and though it would stretch things to say Caucasians will cease to matter politically, America is turning distinctly less white than it has been. This is slowly giving rise to voting blocks that are proving increasingly decisive in tilting poll results.
The Obama win can overstate the case as blacks and Hispanics, usually not compatible, voted in droves for the Democrat nominee. While this was a rare confluence, it underlined the clout of the non-white vote even though the overall split in white preferences revealed by exit polls shows how Obama trounced the race divide.
The Democratic challenger expectedly mopped up 95% of the black vote but also walked away with 66% of the Hispanic ballot. He also got 63% of the Asian vote. Though much less in number, Asian support only worked to seal an advantage Obama derived from capturing a decisive chunk of the Hispanic vote. And if US census projections are anything to go by, political campaigns will be paying a lot of attention to these groups.
The expanding Hispanic population may well make US parties wary of issues like tough immigration laws. And with illegal migrants, with Mexico contributing the most, estimated at 11.6 million as of January 2006, their numbers are climbing. By 2042, non-Hispanic whites could be less than 50% of the US populace.
The US census bureau revised estimates show "white alone" population at 66.71% by 2050. But if Hispanic whites are excluded, this figure falls to 46.32%. And in 2045 itself, the figure will be 48.52%. All Hispanics will be 30.25% of the population, while Asians will jump from 3.8% in 2000 to 9.24%, black numbers will go up from 12.7% to 14.97%.
In a September report, the bureau said one in five persons speaks Spanish at home in four states. Nationally, 12.3% of the population or 35 million people spoke Espanol at home. On the whole, 19.7% of Americans speak a language other than English at home. There are 3.3 million Chinese-Americans, followed by Filipinos at 2.8 million and Asian-Indians at 2.5 million. Overall the group will more than double by 2050.
After Spanish, Chinese is the second largest non-English language spoken in homes and by 2023, half of America's children will form the "minorities". By 2050, the minority population, except non-Hispanic and single race whites, will stand at 235.7 million of a total of 439 million. The white population will, at 203.3 million, be only slightly larger than what it is in 2008 at 199.8 million. This startling fact points to loss of population in 2030s and 2040s as whites decline from 66% in 2008 to 46% in 2050.
With the Hispanic population likely to triple from 46.7 million to 132.8 million, while Asians reach 40-odd million, it may not be long before the US has a Latino president. The odds are harder for an Indian-American, but given the community's networking skills, a vice-president may not be out of reach.
That is why I say the “tipping” point may have already been reached.
The solution is easy (and fun!): HAVE MORE BABIES!

Did anyone think that the election of the Messiah would put an end to demands for racial-group preferences? Not on your life. There will be calls for the “first woman president”, the “first Hispanic president”, then the “first LGBT president”.

The first thing we need to do is limit LEGAL immigration, which is the biggest source of our increase in population. 87% of legal immigrants are minorities and about two-thirds are Hispanic of the 1.2 million who enter each year. We don’t need that many immigrants. 300,000 would be about right.

I would presume a person of any ethnicity that don’t identify him or herself as of said ethnicity first and foremost.
This country is such a joke now with our new ‘leader’ who won’t provide proof he is eligible to hold the office. I can see where an illegal alien could easily win. America is very close to hitting bottom.

There are political consequences from the rapidly changing demographics taking place at this very momement. The country is being lost while most Americans are unaware of what is happening.
You are living in a dream world--an America of the past. Immigrants account for one in eight U.S. residents, the highest level in 80 years. In 1970 it was one in 21; in 1980 it was one in 16; and in 1990 it was one in 13. In a decade it will be one in 7, the highest in our history and by 2050, it will be one in 5 who are foreign born. The question is whether we can maintain a sense of national identity and shared sense of endeavor with the rapidly changing demographics.
In 1970, 89% of this country was comprised of non-Hispanic whites. By 2042, 72 years later, it will be 50%. Half of the children 5 and under are minorities. By 2023, half of the children 18 and under will be minorites. When you consider that 68% of all blacks are born out of wedlock followed by Hispanics who have a 50% rate and both groups have school drop out rates approaching 50%, you have the social pathology for failure in this country. We are creating a permanent underclass. The current unemployment rate for blacks is 11.1% and Hispanics are at 8.8%.
If immigration continues at current levels, the nation’s population will increase from 305 million today to 468 million in 2060 — a 163 million (56 percent) increase. Immigrants plus their descendents will account for 105 million (63 percent) of the increase. Demography is destiny.
I don’t believe that to be true..Wether you are black or white hispanic, Indian Jew or Gentile all parents should be able to tell there children *You* can grow up to be President with hard work doing the right thing, looking for GOD for guidance and keeping the principles strong that made the USA the greatest place to live.

If you consider that whites don’t vote in huge numbers for their race, but blacks and hispanics almost vote 100% for their race, you can see why a white person will never be president again.
Exactly. We are not sure what Obama is descended from; just that he is here. I think eventually that will be his downfall. He has no history of even being born.
But that has never been an issue for us....Only White men have been on the presidential tickets from day one....
What if it was reversed? only blacks were on the ticket then a white man came on scene..Would we do the same thing blacks did for Obama?

But we also know now that 97% of blacks will vote in a block for another black, regardless of his policies.
Indeed, 96% voted for Obama when pitted against Hillary -— and studies and even funny videos (thanks, Howard Stern) showed complete lack of knowledge of black voters of Obama’s positions.
Blacks are some 22% of the population -— almost half of Dhim voters.
With this block votes, I find it unlikely that a white Dhim will ever get the Dhim party nomination if there is a marginally credible black running for the nomination.
Similarly, with almost 1/4 votes already cast because of skin color, whites -— assuming voting on idealism (which results in a division at the ballot box) and not racism like blacks -— will never again be elected.

Blacks are approximately 13% of the population. Hispanics of all races are 15%.
