As US churches mark election, Obama skips services

His name was invoked at church services nationwide on Sunday, but President-elect Obama didn't attend any of them. He went to the gym instead.

Obama doesn't have a church in Chicago since he severed ties in April with his longtime pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr. And his decision on which church to attend when he moves to Washington will undoubtedly be closely watched.

When he left Trinity United Church of Christ in May, Obama said his family would look for a new congregation. Obama spokeswoman Jen Psaki said Sunday that the president-elect hadn't yet picked a church.

He knows the stakes when choosing one. Wright's fiery sermons from the pulpit caused Obama problems during his campaign. One video showed Wright saying, "God damn America."

He should go to Catholic Mass. I’m certain he would be welcome to receive Communion.

He didn't go to church because he “doesn't have” a church?

What nonsense!

Walk into to any church in this nation and your hand will be shaken, you will be handed a bulletin and you either find a seat or someone will lead you to one.

Why does a “Messiah” need to go to Church? Going to Church might show humility and a need for guidance....

There are thousands of churches in each city. It seems there are MORE churches than banks. More churches than EVERYTHING’S A DOLLOR , stores. Why, in the suburbs there you can’t drive one mile without seeing a dozen churches. And HE can’t find one! HA ha

Ol’ Teddy was pretty rigorous himself. I don’t think any other president could have withstood the physical rigors he put himself through on his trip up an uncharted river in the Amazon jungle for instance. Almost killed him and would have killed just about anyone else his age.

I think I've found the place for him, it's not exactly a church, but he should feel right at home, since it's the sort of place he attended in Indonesia.

Farrakhan says Obama draws a 'oneness of spirit'

This one, the original, is right there in Chicago, but there is also one at 3160 Pennsylvania Ave. SE, Washington, DC, just a little over a mile away, from where he will be living in the White House.

Obama living in the White House...excuse me while I go barf up my appendix.

To be honest, I think perhaps Obama goes there to see other men in the shower room.

The only reason I say this is because Obama doesn't have the physique of a person who works out on a regular basis.

Of course, I could be wrong on this one.

Just my $.02.

Have you wondered what Christmas will be like in our White House? Or Easter? If any. I will bet they treat these events just as he did with refusing to honor the flag.

What's he going to do at the tomb of the unknown soldier? Black Roses and Spit!

The thought of all this just breaks our heart and spirit, and we shall all mourn for 4 long years.

Obama’s been in the Senate for long enough that he would have a church in Washington if church mattered to him.

His words have proven that he is not a Christian by God’s definition, and his actions prove that he isn’t by any other definitions.
