Excellent question. Since she is NOT the mother of an anchor baby, she, as an individual, would NOT qualify for any benefits. The only way I know of for her to have received them is to be using a fraudulent SS number. Even then, funding for Section 8 and housing vouchers has been so backlogged all across the country, that American Citizens who are disabled cannot even get their names on just the waiting lists! And then, when you do, you have to wait for years til someone gives up their housing/voucher. Fat chance. As far as waiting lists go, last year they opened a waiting list to add names down in Florida somewhere and it was so insane that IIRC, they had to call in SWAT teams to control the crowd. Yep...

The 14th amendment needs clarification with an END to birthright citizenship which LEGALLY allows illegal aliens to drain a system that was set up to help OUR citizens in need. The anchor baby draw to American may be worse than the draw for jobs. Multiple identities also allow for multiple draws on our resources. Which, in turn, can create a multiple income situation and allows men who live in the homes illegally to send their ‘under the table’, non-taxed paychecks back home.
The worst thing that can happen to these people, if caught, is that they get deported. No biggie...they just come back the next day.
We are fools to know that an illegal, pregnant, female suicide bomber, after having delivered here in the states, would qualify legally for all federal & state benefits due her ‘citizen’ child.

There are plenty of reasons why Cuyahoga County is now known as the welfare capital of America:
Dennis Kucinich- keeps getting elected even after the hometown paper endorsed our candidate. Why? Dennis finds ways generations of tax recipients don’t have to become taxpayers. Move in and out of different programs so there are no time limits. Also convince the aged their SS is there for them, even when he knows damn well welfare chews into the SS fund.
The late Stephanie Tubbs Jones-See above, and add to it the reversal of Ronald Reagan’s stance of eliminating welfare in the inner city. I almost forgot, we have a 17 year old girl who lives here who has given birth 7 times. I’d be willing to bet that girl’s mother gets more in benefits than I make in a year!
25 years of one party control in this city since George Voinivich was mayor. Back then roughly 10% of local tax dollars went to entitlements. Now it’s 45% as of 2006 and rising.
All the above involves native born citizens. Now add all the unchecked illegals and it is a brutal truth that is exposed.
As I said before, plenty of people move into the area. Not to work mind you because they know how easy it is to beat the system. I bring you this example to completly illustrate my point.
I own a grocery store in the outskirts of the central city. A couple of summers ago one of my customers who is well known here and has lots of family in the area that I know moved to South Carolina. All summer I kept hearing how it was loving it down there and would NEVER MOVE BACK. Within 3 monts, IT was back. As I found out later the reason was simplicity obvoius. IT tried to get welfare benefits as soon as IT touched SC soil. IT was flatly denied as SC knew what this person took from Ohio residents. Ohio taxpayers were waiting with open arms as soon as this person returned.
Of course I was not going to identify the person in question. It is completely true and it continues not to work whatsoever.
Again this is a native born issue. As for the illegals, multiply it times 10.

I’m 51 and up until about 4 years ago, I lived in Cuyahoga County for about 30 years, both east and west side, while working downtown. Who was Mayor after Voinovich....wasn’t it Forbes? or was he before? agggh. I’m getting old, but I think it was all downhill after that. I always tried to stay optimistic about the city, but it was getting harder and harder.
You are correct. After Voinivich left in I believe 1986, George Forbes took over, then Mike White in 1993, Jane Campbell in 1999 and Frank Jackson in 2006. I think I got everyone and the years right, but I’m not 100% sure.
Point is this city turned around in one term thanks to what George did. Before the Forbes tenure ended, we were heading back where Dennis left us.
It’s a real shame, because cities similar to Cleveland in size but located in the other 90% of the country where work is most important, not the 5th or 6th most important thing are doing great. But not here.
