Did Obama return to Hawaii to attend his grandmother's funeral? I don’t recall hearing anything about this if he did. How is he going to respect the American people when he can’t even respect the woman who helped raise him?
I wonder who paid the expenses for the lady’s burial?

It’s really odd. She was the only one who could prove Obama wasn’t born in the US. When it came down to the wire, he “visited” her and she died 2 days later. And he didn’t go to her funeral
I never thought of that. If she passed away on the 3rd, the funeral should have been Thursday or Friday.

I’ve been thinking the same thing, but didn’t want to say it. Several days ago, I looked up who was with her when she passed on. It was Obama’s sister. So I looked up what I could find out about her. She supported him for O’s presidency as one would expect, but she also seemed to be a genuinely nice person, much more so than her older brother. I didn’t see any obvious red flags, but then they would try to hide them if any existed. I also think it’s highly suspicious that he did not take his daughters to see their great-grandmother just before she died.

The only reason he went back to HI in the first place, was to sign some documents in person so that his birth records could officially be kept sealed. The HI Governor stated that fact shortly after he left, if I recall.

Actually, I have wondered if she is actually dead. I’m thinking the whole sick and dead grandma is very convenient for keeping investigators from getting to her. Funny how the birth cert. was sealed right after he left the island, and granny was the only person living who could now answer the question, and she was getting senile. Might spill too much info. I can’t stand the guy, but criticizing him for that is just a little ridiculous. My understanding is that his grandparents pretty much raised him; his dad was absent and his mom was flaky. It must have been difficult for him not to be able to be there.
I am not thrilled with Obama either but my gosh...some of this is getting silly. After she died, the family decided to have a private service at a later date. That makes sense to me; maybe she wanted to be cremated.

Please, for the love of God, let us focus on the issues that REALLY matter. I am so so tired of hearing anger over issues like Obama’s dog, or the overdone birth certificate conspiracy.
These issues do absolutely NOTHING to advance the conservative agenda, and instead make us look like the whiny little baby liberals that we have hated for the past 8 years.

Again, not an Obama fan, but he was just there on vacation with his family over the summer. I bet there are plenty of people on this board who want their kids to remember their grandparents more healthy than when they last saw them. My mother did not take me to Massachusetts in 1979 to see my grandfather before he died; does that mean there was something suspicious?
Actually, I like the fact that he is thinking of adopting a dog from a shelter, instead of getting a designer dog, a la Paris Hilton.

Me neither (double, triple neither, in fact) but one never knows about these things. It could just be that the woman was too sick to see anyone but the closest family members. Kids can be tough on the sick and visiting the sick can be tough on the kids.
We had some stuff like this in my own family, and there was some conflict over it. All families have issues like this from time to time.
As others have said, these are not the problems with Obama.
And while I do want our side to learn to play hardball a lot better with them dems, and while Bush’s and McCain’s and Palin’s experiences have proven there is no such thing as reaching across the aisle, I also don’t want our side to descend to the level that the left and the media have reached over the past 8 years.
But, as some have pointed out, there’s a wide area between “respectful disagreement” and “gutter smears”.

No one is saying that she was not a very ill woman, but the lack of family togetherness during the final days strikes many as a bit odd.
