AP calls NC for Obama...I'm sick
Charlotte Business Journal ^ | 11/06/08 | me

Posted on 11/06/2008 1:31:52 PM PST by dormee

Tons of people told me that NC would never turn blue. Well it has and being a born and bred tarheel, I'm just sick!!

President-elect Barack Obama won the majority of votes in North Carolina, according to The Associated Press.

Obama’s win in North Carolina is the first for a Democratic presidential candidate since Jimmy Carter won the state in 1976.

The news agency says it declared Sen. Obama the winner after canvassing N.C. counties to determine the number of outstanding provisional ballots. The survey showed there weren’t enough remaining ballots for Sen. John McCain, a Republican, to close a 13,693-vote deficit.

Missouri is the only state that remains too close to call.

Meanwhile, polling data show that money had a whole lot to do with Obama's victory.

Among the findings in exit polling data from CNN.com:

* Some 60 percent of North Carolina voters said the economy was their No. 1 concern in the election. Among those voters, Obama defeated McCain, 52 percent to 48 percent. * Some 51 percent of Tar Heel voters said they were “very worried” about the economy. Of those voters, Obama won, 54 percent to 45 percent. McCain carried voters who said they were “somewhat worried” and “not too worried” about the economy. There wasn’t enough data to determine who won voters saying they were “not worried at all” about the economy. * Exactly half of North Carolina voters make less than $50,000 a year. Those voters broke for Obama over McCain, 57 percent to 42 percent. Among voters earning $50,000 or more, McCain won, 56 percent to 43 percent. * The percentage of voters who said they thought national economic conditions were excellent: 0. Some 95 percent of voters said conditions were “not so good” or “poor.”

That One is also likely win one of Nebraska’s electoral votes:

Well, there’s nothing like the clarity that comes from a complete thrashing. The Dims were convinced they really won in 2000, and came back in 2004 with the same type of candidate with the same strategy, and same result. Let’s hope we don’t do the same in ‘12.

I think you can safely move NC over into the Dem column from now on. The Dems already ran the state govt and in addition to voting for Obama gave virtually all state offices to Dems. I expect our remaining Rep. Senator is next on the Dem menu whenever he comes up for re election.

That’s OK.

Our enemies are already gearing up for the The Weak Ones ascent.

If 0bama does what he said he would then we will be primed and ready for an attack.

Democrats won’t defend America, they’ll blame America.

And 0bama supporters can blame themselves for the death toll.

Mark my words, our enemies smell blood in the water with his election.

The ‘share our wealth’ candidate wins among the stupid, the lazy, and the socialists.

I’m not sure that any Republican could have won in this environment. What I do know is that Bush royally screwed us with that bailout bill. That’s never going to go away. The left loves it because it’s a big pile of money to blow. Wall Street loves it because it can dump its crap on the American taxpayer.

Think of it this way, the Dems went on and won the presidency and increased their majorities in both houses of the Congress. Now they are claiming a mandate and are ready to ram their stupid policies down our throats. On top of it, a President Obama now has a check for $700 bil or so sitting in the Treasury Department.

Maybe if the GOP opted not to push through the bailout everything would’ve really gone to Hell. I’m not sure what we got instead, but it’s not looking too good.

My county went for McCain also but its little comfort. How can a state so dependent on the military vote for a guy who wants to slash the defense budget. Fact is that this year over 60% of the ballots were straight party voters, and guess what most weren’t voting republican

Don't be ... think now how McCain's staff is now trashing Sarah. She brought life into his campaign and now??? Everywhere she went she drew massive crowds ... now they've tossed her under the bus and said she cost them the election. If it wasn't for Sarah I would have sat out this election .... so don't be sad, in hindsight it was a wake-up call (as Rush stated) ... we'll rebuild the party with young Conservatives and take America back from these Marxists who are now going to be in power. God Bless America ... we're survivors!!!!! Photobucket

North Carolina has become more technology and education oriented in recent years.

REPUBLICANS AREN'T SEEN AS EDUCATED so THE EDUCATED DON'T WANT TO BE SEEN AS REPUBLICANS.

They have voted accordingly.

Note that I used the word seen. I know there are educated Republicans. But the perception is there that Republicans are backwards and uneducated.

And there ARE plenty of Republicans that proudly wear their lack of education as a badge of honor.

Yeah, we have a f*&^ing Marxist president, but they're proud. Yes'siree.

I wouldn’t be so sure about moving NC into the dem column yet. The vote this election was close compared to FL, OH, PA and even VA. Also in 2010 yes they will target Burr, but Obama won’t be spending his millions and have thousands of volunteers in the state to help.

The Democratic Party was always dominant in North Carolina. In the past couple of years, the Republicans were finally making gains in the state until just now, obviously. But right now the only Republican in NC with some guts is Patrick McHenry. He is the youngest Congressman and his stock is going to rise.

And, as a double irony..., the end of McCain-Feingold, as you’ll not see it being used anymore, since Obama showed how you could slaughter another candidate who does use McCain-Feingold... good riddance...

A lot of the problem are these just out of college grads (not all of them but a lot of them are liberal). Two of them work with my kids (autism). Funny thing, I was determined to look chipper when they arrived Wed. Both of them were acting depressed. Buyer’s remorse I guess.

I think it bugged them that I wasn’t showing signs of OBD. Maybe it was cause I kept humming ‘Won’t Get Fooled Again’.

My county went McPalin. If you look at the breakdown the blue areas are high welfare areas and big liberal areas - Asheville, Orange County, Durham County, etc. Can’t count out all the libs that have invaded Charlotte/Mecklenburg either, sadly.

NC usually goes Red on a federal level and blue in state and local. I figured the states races were going blue. I was a little shocked that Dole got the boot cause Hagan is a lousy candidate. My local Rep, Mike McIntyre is a Dem but he’s a conservative. He voted against the bailout, always calls me back or contacts me if I write or call and is ranked by HSDLA very highly.

Since NC went blue for Carter and came back strong the next time for Reagan I have high hopes for 2012. Despite the slight win most of us do ‘cling to our guns and religion’.

Although my township went McCain, for the first time since 1968, and only the second time in 120 years, my County went for a Democrat.

No matter who ran on either ticket, I just think that people desperately wanted a change. I don't think they are going to like the change they get, but they will get it.

No fault to Bush, but let's face it, since September 11th, this country has been on a downward spiral economically. I am probably one of the biggest fiscal conservative you will find, but when I look at my mutual funds, and 401K this past quarter I knew that McCain would not help it. Add that to the fact that I think that Obamas tax cut fantasy made desperate people cling to the thought that things have to get better.

I do have faith that people will once again see the light, and will realize that the "welfare queen" is coming back. And the "spreading of the wealth" is actually their wealth. They will come back, just wait and see. Gun rights supporters will come back as soon as Obama reinstates the "assault ban", and pro lifers will come out and vote next time when Obama signs the prochoice rights bill (or whatever it is called). Those issues were just not on the radar for Mid America this time through.

My state of FL is turning blue as the left winged New Yorkers and “Massachusians” flee their states and are permeating ours like a terminal disease. I’m ashamed that we just went blue. In reality, we’re going pink. Most of my state has been conservative but the liberals from the north have isolated Palm Beach County.

I feel your pain as I lived in Charlotte from 1979-1981 and loved that state.

Here’s the problem. Here in PB Country Florida, since the hurricanes bombarded us, many lefties started to “move back north”. Problem is, they didn’t keep going. Everyday I overheard dozens of strangers talking about moving to – NC. They became dubbed as “half- backs” – because your precious state was attractive to them for its closer proximity to their families in NY & MA – yet the houses were more affordable and taxes lower.

Ironically, they are obviously voting in LIBERALS who are going to RAISE your taxes and desecrate everything you hold dear. The “Bible Belt” is being permeated with the cancer of liberalism. Not only are the “half-backs” attacking you from the south (PB County, FL), more and more are retiring from the northern liberal states, then hearing about the cheaper homes and nice climate NC offers (from their liberal friends) – and are now SKIPPING Florida while they plant themselves right in your state.

Even though I’m not a southerner by birth, I lived in NC, SC & AL during my childhood and I am a southerner at heart. It always made me feel better knowing that there is still a region in this country known as the Bible belt to which I can some day return. If millions of people like us did so, we could prevent the desecration of the virtuous remnant left in this country.

It’s the “SHEEPLE, stupid”! That should be the motto for this 2008 Election. Remember the “Sheeple” from the Clinton years. Yeah, those “Sheeple” that gave him such high approval ratings that could make a girls skirt go up to the stratosphere.

Well, after a long slumber these past 8 years, the “SHEEPLE” has awakened and are ready to follow liek lemmings over the cliff - too bad they didn’t learn from that ‘ticking sound’ that Clinton left us with that brought everyone’s attention on 9-11!
