You know, fat asses like Ebert need to really be on the wrong end of a rifle to really feel “oppressed”. Th pansies who sit in their nice little offices and write about how they are so “oppressed” really need to become oppressed.1/2 of me hopes that something big does happen, and that all these lazy bastards catch two right between the eyes. Then they at least really would have something to whine about...

“He’s claiming that the war in Iraq was started by theocons (superstitious Right Wing Christians) intent on bringing about the Apocalypse (in part by teaming up with the Jews over Israel).”

Your ideas intrigue me, but I think “zealotry” has connotations far beyond religiosity. I often use it to denote political fanaticism myself. And generally speaking, when it comes to foreign policy I think libs highlight fascism (get it, neo-con = neo-Nazi), more often when it comes to domestic policy (when they’re not complaining about trickle-down economics) do they highlight the Evangelical angle. As for occultism, I think we more often hear it in connection to Hitler & Co.’s paganism than we do in connection to Zionism, but I might be mistaken.

It is a slam on “neo-cons” who are partnering with Israel “only” to see that the Christian vision of the apocalypse happens. It is more a Left Wing conspiracy theory than a Right Wing occult plan.

I posted a comment to his piece a few hours ago, but the monitor won’t post it. They are keeping the dissent to a minimum.

I mean really, does ANYONE watch his TV show? I only watched it long ago, and only for Siskel - and this essay PROVED Gene was the smart one.

“What we’re trying to do,” said one of the advisers, David Cutler, in explaining the gap between Obama’s words and his intent, “is find a way to talk to people in a way they understand.”

Wall Street is still voting.
This land (ours, yours, or whatever) is down another 400 points today.

The biggest losses EVER following a presidential election.

Good work Obambi.

The kids that voted for Obama think he’s old. 72 would be ancient. The young think they live forever and they think they know everything.

Let me know if your comment ever migrates to the listed posts (you don’t even have to identify which is yours).

I recall posting a comment to an article about a concert this summer that got hijacked by the performer and turned into a political rally. I made some rational and clear points. The writer even acknowledged some of the views. But when it came time to cull the “comments” for some to be repeated as “letters to the editor” (as culled from the blogged comments), there were no rational arguments being made from the Republican side. Strictly agitprop miscasting the tone of the conversation online (omitting a number of sane posters’ comments for those more on edge).
