Right-wing radio feasts like its ’92
Boston Herald ^ | November 6, 2008 | Jessica Heslam

Conservative talk radio yakkers took to the airwaves yesterday as though they were approaching the guillotine, all doom and gloom the morning after Barack Obama’s presidential victory.

“The process of rebuilding the conservative movement has begun,” declared Rush Limbaugh.

WTKK-FM (96.9) host Jay Severin played a clip of Obama’s acceptance speech, then told the president-elect to “go screw yourself.”

I heard the Severin comment “go screw yourself” but what the author fails to mention is why he said it. When Obama made a comment about needing help from everyone — including those who didn’t vote for him — Severin referred to Schumer’s comment about comparing talk radio to porn and then obviously the Fairness Doctrine.

just can not imagine in the privacy of the voting booth Rush Limbaugh having voted for Bob Dole, that would have been so against his interests as the performer in radio,” Harrison said.

That was an annoying article. Why is Rush a performer and KeithOlberman/ChrisMatthews a newsman/commentator?

More evidence that liberals are the true deceivers and are enamored with the stifling of free speech. I am tired of their hate-filled labels. I have an online friend who is a teacher, a Republican, her brother served in the military; her fellow teachers ridiculed him today and his service. Good luck. I rarely watch TV anymore but I tuned into ESPN for a brief moment tonight and the Messiah was on. ESPN! The indoctrination continues. Quickly, the TV was tuned off. Instead, I watched a Lee Van Cleef movie.

I would like for every conservative in this country, using the radio, TV, newspapers, email to congress people - all means available - publicly declare that henceforth our objective, each and every conservative individual, is to become a burden on society.

Nothing would cure the left’s love of and propensity to Marxist policy and programs faster than the idea that they’re going to be supporting US!!!!!!!

Conservatism has been hidden, obscured, and maligned for many years. The mainstream media has always called conservatism into question. They successfully labeled Goldwater as a radical, risky, warmonger, and LBJ won in a landslide.

After Carter's totally inept term, Americans were looking for change, and Reagan was able to articulate in very simple terms conservative principles that they agreed with. The press was totally beside itself, because Americans ignored all their propaganda and elected him anyway.

Reagan reminded us that we are always just one generation away from tyranny and loss of freedom. We must continue to fight the good fight.

Most Americans get their news from TV. It is tough to get through that filter unless you are a very good communicator.

I do not believe that the election was lost in the middle. It was lost in failure to articulate conservative principles, failure to hang the financial mess on the Dems where it belonged, and an underfunded poorly run campaign coupled with total media bias from Pravda USA.

Obama co-opted many issues. He did not run on a liberal platform. He only slipped up and showed his true nature a few times-Joe the plumber for example. He just said things that everyone could agree on, promised change that would solve all problems and never told anyone how.

Since fairness doctrine was brought up in Heslam article, I now repro a post from the boston-radio-interest mailing list (archived at bostonradio.org) by someone I consider a liberal. We may have a convert for "AGAINST Fairness Doctrine!"

------------------------------- TONY SCHINELLA:
You know, I've been thinking about this too.

I have always been an advocate of the fairness doctrine for TV and radio. Unlike newspapers, magazines, books, or Web sites, you just can't legally start a TV or radio station to compete with another station if you don't like the viewpoints of their hosts. And while conservatives say NPR is "liberal talk," it truly isn't that liberal on economic issues. They are just as corporate.

But after watching this election cycle, I'm leaning towards no longer supporting the fairness doctrine. The simple fact is that most of the newspapers were totally in the tank for Obama/Biden. They should have listed the media on their campaign reports as an in-kind donation. They attacked Sarah Palin over the most trivial things and ignored major hypocrisies with the Dems. They didn't report Biden gaffes but wrote about Palin's clothing budget. Look at the illegal alien aunt of Obama's, who illegally donated money to the campaign, living in a Southie housing project story. That didn't make my daily newspaper but every time Palin had a gaffe, it was in there. The coverage was so one-sided it made me embarrassed to call myself a newspaper editor. And we still don't know where Obama stands on many of the major issues because he never told us. He just pushed his hope dope.

So long as the printed press is going to only report one side of the news, why should we force talk radio to report both sides? In many ways, the current situation, is an equal force between media outlets.

Did I just say that? Wow. Shocker.

Best, Tony Schinella

Some say no. Some say yes. I say we start fighting this thing today. There is an online petition and you should call Congressman Mike Pence’s office in Washington. He had legislation to keep free speech on the radio air waves and couldn’t get enough dems/socialists to sign on. He might have other ideas. Mike is a solid conservative from Indiana.

America has called conservatism into question during the last two elections. Palin grabbed the base, but the election was lost in the middle. Obama stayed on message and McCain changed the message daily.

Now, The thing is that O was staying in the middle with the politics, some of my friends who voted O (and they are white and Conservative) did because of a few reasons:

1)McCain didn't have a conservative idea in his head except for earmarks -- but he didn't talk about what earmarks until this year. He needed to be out there telling us why it is wrong.

2)The GOP is not united! It seems that the southern GOP do not care about us in the north, yes we do have different ideas on COSERVATIVISM, but until we can embrace each others, we won't win.

3)The bailout bill - McCain lumped all business owners together, he should have named names, but he didn't. He lumped everyone together.

4)He ignored (except for New Hampshire), most of New England. I know why (see #2), but he should have been talking -- 4 countries in Maine that went for W in 2004, went to O. We needed them up here to promote the GOP. Yes New England doesn't have any GOP members, so the GOP better get their act togeher and see what they can do.

5)He ran a pisss poor campaign. It seems that he didn't want it.

Mark Levin said that the 'big turnout was LESS then 2004's turnout.

He said that O got a bit more of Kerry's numbers and McCain got lot less of W's.

The GOP needs to rebuild, but first they need to find out what kind of party they want to be??

Half-a-fag is a common expression in New York. It’s a translation from the Italian phrase “mezzo finocchio”.

The “half” does not mean partial in this case.

It denotes that the subject is not even man enough to be a complete fag.

You will hear it used in mob movies and shows like “The Godfather” and “The Sopranos”.

'What are we doing wrong in the NORTHEAST?' should be the question the GOP needs to ask. They need to do some SOUL SEARCHING before 2010 or we will be losing more seats...(18 lost this year!!).

We might stay a MINORITY PARTY if we don't get UNITED. I believe the Dems are becoming united, but we are breaking up - I'm worried that we won't survive after 2012.

I do... I think the right of center moderates (6-7 on a scale from 1 to 10, 1 being Liberal and 10 being Conservatives), is not happy with the GOP anymore. Conservatives are different in different parts of the country we are Free Market here, in the bible belt they are Social. We need to unite and see how we can become a national party - yes from Maine to SanFrancisco, because if we don't CONSERVATIVISM will not be around. I do not want to see that day!!

Amen, conservatism is not dead yet in the Northeast. It might look it, but until we conservative unite, you'll see us stay blue!!

New Englanders wants free markets and lower taxes but here -- we are mostly independents, because both parties views aren'tin touch with us. (Democrats views on the economy/taxes and energy, republicans on societal.) I believe we can help turn the house if we stop worrying about issues that should not be governmental but states rights, and worry about what is the best for the USA.
