Obama victory sparks cheers around the globe

PARIS – Barack Obama's election as America's first black president unleashed a renewed love for the United States after years of dwindling goodwill, and many said Wednesday that U.S. voters had blazed a trail that minorities elsewhere could follow.

People across Africa stayed up all night or woke before dawn to watch U.S. history being made, while the president of Kenya — where Obama's father was born — declared a public holiday.

In Indonesia, where Obama lived as child, hundreds of students at his former elementary school erupted in cheers when he was declared winner and poured into the courtyard where they hugged each other, danced in the rain and chanted "Obama! Obama!"

"Your victory has demonstrated that no person anywhere in the world should not dare to dream of wanting to change the world for a better place," South Africa's first black president, Nelson Mandela, said in a letter of congratulations to Obama.

Many expressed amazement and satisfaction that the United States could overcome centuries of racial strife and elect an African-American as president.

"This is the fall of the Berlin Wall times ten," Rama Yade, France's black junior minister for human rights, told French radio. "America is rebecoming a New World.

"On this morning, we all want to be American so we can take a bite of this dream unfolding before our eyes," she said.

In Britain, The Sun newspaper borrowed from Neil Armstrong's 1969 moon landing in describing Obama's election as "one giant leap for mankind."

Fall of the Berlin Wall times 10? My God, they're crazy. They believe all this stuff Hollywood pumps out about America's inherent racism.

Worldwide cheers ?

Allow me, as a citizen of Europe, translate that sentence to you : 90% of the people of the world hate America, for various reason. They hope the no1 superpower will fail and they are really pleased that the USA will collapse with Obama as President.

The REAL friends of America are depressed right now.

There are many dangers awaiting in this world. Our enemies join in the cheers. These are the same fools who gathered around Neville Chamberlain.

I literally was pacing the floor on election night in 2004, because I knew if Kerry was elected the terrorists would get stronger.

They sure hated the ‘arrogant cowboy’. We’ll see how Putin, Hu, Ahmedinejad, Chavez, Jong-il or whoever has taken over in N. Korea, et al take this. The whole world will be damned along with America in the chaos that will come of this.

They’re happy because they view Hussein’s win as a huge defeat for the U.S. ...but good luck getting American libs to see/admit that fact.

Yes, for all of Bush’s faults, he has had it right on what we face from the terrorists and has taken the fight to them and Russia, China, Iran, etc. would know damn well if they hit us with a nuke they’d sure as hell get one back. 0bama wants to disarm us and degrade us to the rest of the world. I am furious and the people who voted for these traitorous Demonrats can own what we are about to suffer.

If Obama could translate the “love” of Europeans into something that tangibly benefits America — for example NATO
members bearing more of the burden in Afghanistan — I could develop some respect for the man.

They obviously never lived through communism.

They are about to.

Yeah, I’m pretty sure the people of Geogia, Ukraine and some of the Stans are not real happy about Mr. Obama.

If I am a farmer in Georgia I would seriously consider not planting crops in the Spring for fear that Russian Tanks would soon be in my field.

The dwindling good will around the world is a myth, and the elation over Obama being black is overdone to say the least.

Reality is many pro Bush governments had come to power, and many countries are far more racist than the USA. They may not respect Obama.

Anyone ever listen to Russians, for example, talk about black people???

Is this a normal reaction to a Senator with 143 days of experience, who has never released his birth certificate, medical records, or college transcripts, never authored a bill, never voted on anything controversial, and never stated anything specific in a speech?

The president of Kenya declared a public holiday.

A Japanese town named Obama celebrated in the streets.

Hundreds of students in Indonesia poured into the courtyard where they hugged each other, danced in the rain and chanted “Obama! Obama!”

“This is the fall of the Berlin Wall times ten,” Rama Yade, France’s black junior minister for human rights, told French radio. “America is rebecoming a New World—On this morning, we all want to be American so we can take a bite of this dream unfolding before our eyes,” she said.

In Britan, the Sun describes Obama’s victory as “one giant leap for mankind.”

In Rio: “It’s the beginning of a different era,” police officer Emmanuel Miranda said. “The United States is a country to dream about, and for us black Brazilians, it is even easier to do so now.”

“What an inspiration. He is the first truly global U.S. president the world has ever had,” said Pracha Kanjananont, a 29-year-old Thai sitting at a Starbuck’s in Bangkok. “He had an Asian childhood, African parentage and has a Middle Eastern name. He is a truly global president.”

This isn’t just a “we’re happy and congratulations” response—this is a “we welcome the second coming of the messiah” response.

And when numerous terrorist attacks and nukes start exploding "around the globe" I can't wait to hear THOSE "cheers."

They've lit the fire, now let 'em burn.

Yeah they cheer now since they don’t need anything but who is going to fill the void as we tank under Hussien O.

What of the next earthquake or tidal wave? What will happen seeing as the USA will have no disposable income anymore? What about security?

The world, always there when they need us...

Sadly we will not be able to answer anymore...
