[President]Bush congratulates [President-elect]Obama on 'awesome night'
Breitbart/AFP ^ | November 5, 2008

Posted on 11/04/2008 9:56:32 PM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

US President George W. Bush late Tuesday telephoned his apparent successor, Democrat Barack Obama, to congratulate him on his "awesome night," according to White House spokeswoman Dana Perino. "Mr President-elect, congratulations to you. What an awesome night for you, your family and your supporters. Laura and I called to congratulate you and your good bride," she quoted Bush as telling Obama.

"I promise to make this a smooth transition. You are about to go on one of the great journeys of life. Congratulations and go enjoy yourself," Bush told Obama, she said.

The president also invited Obama and his family "to visit the White House soon, at their convenience," Perino said.

Bush was also to reach out to Obama's defeated rival, Republican John McCain, who conceded the fight shortly after 11:00 pm (0400 GMT).

You know we have to look at it - it is historical - who would have ever thought that an African American would be POTUS.

Stuff it, BDSer. You weaklings fed and energized the left while at the same time undermining the right as a sacrifice to your self indulgence. Right trash BDSers were the useful idiots of the right. You guys played your part in creating an atmosphere in which this Muslim took over the executive branch of our government.

It began with his father who never bought into the principles of the man that took him to the White House.

I think our current President is an honorable man with a strong faith in God. However, his inability to communicate or defend any principles outside the war on terror destroyed his party. He governed with a bunker mentality and seemed uninterested in the future of his party. He allowed the media to define his presidency instead of defining it on his own.

He recognized the problems with the mortgage crisis, social security, and medicaid/medicare and talked about them to congress in state of the union addresses. That’s it. He abandoned any efforts to do the right thing and stayed in the bunker. He never appeared to lead or want to lead the GOP.

He deserves our thanks for two supreme court justices and no attacks since 9/11. He loses major history points for tonight.

That is the way I see it.

love George W. Bush. He has been a great President. I will miss him so much. After January, he can go to the ranch and be shed of the hideous , incessant , evil attacks of the media and Dems.

Maybe ... and maybe not. The Left is screaming for his blood (in some cases literally), and Obama has already promised Justice department investigations into everything he's done. Don't be suprised if he's arrested at some point.

if anything, obama should be calling bush to thank him for this ‘awesome’ night. if it werent for bush’s complete incompetence that ruined the republican and conservative brand, liberals would not control both chambers of congress with huge majorities along with the most liberal president in this nations history. thanks president bush! it may take us decades to recover from this. im sorry but im pissed right now. cant say i didnt see this coming. too many people gave bush and the rest of his republican cronies a pass the past 4 years when they lerched too far to the left economically. im sorry but bush let us all down. now we are all going to pay.

After the ineffectual GHW Bush and now the won't-stand-up-and-be-counted GW Bush of the past year, I will NEVER EVER support any Bush family member again.

They take the political capital everyone works so hard to get and fritter it away. GHWB frittered away everything Reagan built up, and then GGWB frittered away both the 1994 Republican Revolution advantage, AND the strong advantage given him by the more recent Republican majority.

I’m sick of Bush, McCain and Republicans trying to be “nice” and show “class” to a bunch of cut throat leftists, Marxists and traitors who never show them an ounce of respect back. It’s not tit for tat with the Dhims, they just keep plowing along on their path of destroying freedom, true freedom and America.

Hussein Obama and the Dhims are going to destroy this country and probably the rest of the world and Western civilization in conjunction with the Chinese, the Islamofascists and Muslims, scumbags like Hugo Chavez, Ahmadinejad and all the rest of the petty tyrants and fascist dictators in the world.

Obama will not fight back to save this country. He’s an agent of destruction.

Bush has been an absolute disaster for the conservative movement. McCain would probably have been even worse.

If there is a silver lining to all of this, the conservative, constitutionalist and Christian grassroots will have ample motivation to start preparing for the coming political battles. What will be done to stop illegal immigration? Are we prepared to vigorously oppose unconstitutional legislation aka socialism?

“I WILL NOT live in a socialist/communist country in any form or fashion.”

But...where can you go? Australia’s the only possibility and they aren’t holding too steady lately. The UK’s out, the EU’s out, Canada’s out, so do you want to live in a third world country, an Arab country or Israel?

With Obama as president, unless he is surrounded by some very savvy advisors who rein him in, the USA could shortly be on about par with Bangladesh in world status, but for the time being I still don’t see any option for a true lover of freedom than to stay in the USA and fight. Half of America is still sane.

President Bush is a big government country-club Republican who hates everything Reagan embodied and, like his daddy, wanted to undo the Reagan revolution.

He is an Ivy League elitist like The One, who couldn’t stomach what Reagan did to the GOP, allowing regular middle-class Americans to have sway in the party. Tonight’s travesty is his doing.

This nation has faced crises before, and patriots don’t cut and run.

We've never faced this before. Our electoral process has been completely hijacked and a criminal Marxist organization now has complete control of the U.S. government. We've just suffered our first-ever coup.

To think they're going to permit us to work within the system to take away their absolute power is to ignore who these people are. There's nothing they won't do to keep us down. Nothing.

For 8 yrs, I supported W through thick and thin (mostly thin). While he may be a class act who meant well, my opinion of his 2 terms in office has changed. Yes, he kept the country safe after 9/11, but he never could articulate to the American public what he was doing or why, which only invited criticism. And although he gave us Roberts & Alito, let’s not forget that he also tried to pawn Harriet Miers off on us as well. W had no backbone to stand up to the Republicans who spent like drunken sailors when they were in control of Congress. He had no fight left in him to do it once the Dems took back control after the ‘06 elections.

Bush 41 squandered a 90% approval rating, which led to Clinton. Bush 43 squandered a 90% approval rating, which led to Obama. I never wish to see the last name of Bush on a national ticket again. The only silver lining I can think of tonight is that the possibility of a Hillary presidency has *almost* been fully extinguished.

That black woman on the video is going to be really surprised when she doesn’t get a check in the mail for her mortgage and car payment on inauguration day.

Some of the more rabid Obama fans seem to actually believe money is just going to come in the mail to them when he takes office! They don’t understand simple economics, that a miniscule tax cut will be outweighed by unemployment, layoffs, and inflation, and thus higher prices, that result from Obama’s taxes on business and industry, and by increases in property taxes and other taxes that directly affect their net discretionary spending power.

Bush is the worst thing to come to America since Carter! He, and RINOs like McCain, caused this mess after our victory against the Clinton machine in 2000.
