Here in Chicago, a group of us just got back from doing visibility for McCain here in Boystown on a break from monitoring the polling stations in our neighborhoods. So far, we have not seen any instances of Obama followers intimidating voters or committing any sort of fraud but are keeping our eyes open. We are all veterans of the Iowa, Texas, and other caucuses, so we know how bad Obamas followers can be.
The weirdest thing about today is that we honestly see less Obama tee shirts, stickers, and buttons out that we saw Kerry stuff in 2004. We spotted two black people in Obama tee shirts and a 60-something white hippy woman with long gray hair wearing about 57 Obama buttons (one for every state), but thats about it. Spotted one McCain tee shirt and one pink Palin shirt though.

Oh God Please be true.
Noob posting this...is it trustworthy?
Doesn’t seem to comport.
Just fyi.
Based on your excerpt I don’t see anything related to the headline. Is the theory that Obama is going to lose based on how many tee shirts he saw?
“We spotted two black people in Obama tee shirts and a 60-something white hippy woman with long gray hair wearing about 57 Obama buttons (one for every state), “
LOL
Wow. looks like a good poll. I’ll believe it more than the other polls.
Here in the SF bay area I saw a lot more Kerry stuff than I’ve seen 0bama stuff as well.
Please God, let it be so!
Yeah, seriously, I don’t run this site but knock it off, bad job on this thread.
This is based on speculation from a news report saying they were expecting thousands in Grant Park and not a million like we heard the other day
I appreciate you posting this, but I can’t get my hopes up just because there aren’t many people wearing Obama t-shirts in Chicago.
Admit it Robin. You’re really Higgins!
“we know how bad Obamas followers can be”....now isn’t that something to be proud of in our country? Our cities are ghettos and those people don’t care.
Too early. Intrade still has McCain below 8%.
Spread that word!!!
I take this with a huge grain of salt, but it is nice to see some psy-ops at work on our side for a change.
Works fine for me.
God Bless the PUMA’S!
DISINFORMATION ALERT!!!
Ignore all polls! Get out and VOTE McCAIN/PALIN!!!!!!
The city has also opened the park to the public (tickets are still needed for the premium area) so advance sales must have sucked.
thank you
Noob or no, from hillbuzz? I'd maintain a healthy skepticism.
Knock what off? A poster can choose what they want to excerpt from an article to post the most relevant part. I did go there and read the article and it’s particularly worthless anyway. No better than the posts from Freepers posting anecdotal information. You would expect something better from an online publication. Bad job both from the poster and whoever wrote the article.
It is trustworthy — the people from this site have helped uncover fraud in a lot of areas.
Honestly, you would really not know there was even an election going on. There is no excitement in the air here in Chicago. Our polling stations are in a neighborhood heavily populated with young professionals and college kids supposedly Obamas demographic. Both polling places near us have not been busy all day. There was never a line, and inside the room there are about 35 poll workers and monitors, with something like 25-30 voting booths, and at most weve seen 6 of them occupied at a time.
Where is Obamas youth army?
Or, are they all going to come in 10 minutes before polls close to overwhelm the room, like they did in Iowa for the caucus?
You can tell the Obama supporters on the street, though. They look really worried. Words spreading fast here that Obamas going to lose the big Reifenstahl-styled rally Obama planned for Grant Park has been downgraded, according to police we know. Instead of one million people coming out to hear his concession speech tonight, the city is now expecting only tens of thousands. The worlds biggest celebrity doesnt seem to be drawing the crowd he hoped.
More later when we get the chance back to our stations another four hours or so until polls close here.
If turnout and excitement for Obama are as dismal in the rest of the city as they are in Boystown, this could be a VERY bad night for Dear Leader.
steady FReepers steady, don’t let any polls discourage or encourage voter participation...LET’S ALL continue to encourage our WEST COAST FReepers to BRING IT HOME!!
VOTE VOTE VOTE!
I reside in MN and this attitude of yours in Chicago toted just doesn't jive here....
Not sure HOW they know this or who the “word on the street” is but I’m willing to listen!
My daughter-in-law just told me son that she is hearing all kinds of sirens around the area where the rally is going to be — their building is right near there.
“...advance sales must have sucked.”
Probably forgot to book the free concert.
This is just noise and exit poll BS.
With these turnout numbers I think it will be a blowout.
FOR MAC AND SARAH!!!
I'm having a heck of a time posting. Maybe I'll just browse this evening. Gaaaah.
I have to wonder if some Obamunists are going to bother to wait in line in the Mountain and Pacific time zones “if” the election has already been called for Obama. After all, that 90 minutes could be spent celebrating his victory, why be late to the party?
btt
Hillbuzz is a PUMA site.
The PUMAs HATE 0bama.
I don’t know what is going on but here on the NW side there have been sirens all afternoon. Far more than usual.
Went and voted and encountered no line. Ladies said the turnout had been bigger than usual but saw no evidence of it.
Disc, Drum or Jake Brake?
Even more of a reason to get out there and vote.
That 73,000 is only for those allowed in the core area where IDs are required, as I understand it. The plan had been for hundreds of thousands more, at least, to be out in the larger surrounding area. (I’m not from Chicago, don’t know the actual park names and terms.)
I have been saying since early summer that McCain will win easily (And I don’t want to imply that I am ecstatic about this as I am a strict-constructionist) based on many assumptions. Assumptions aside, though, the main reason for my call is that America is simply not ready to elect a radical leftist. We seem to get closer every cycle but we’re not there yet, IMHO.

Remember: Drudge and the media lie

Remember: exit polls were WAY off in the primaries especially Super Tuesday.
Drudge is starting to play his game the same one he played in the primaries when he claimed Obama would win California by 10 points, NY and NY Jersey by double digits, and take Massachusetts and others too.
Clinton won all of the above by DOUBLE DIGITS.
Drudge does this to drive traffic his way to freak out Eeyores. Just calm down, relax, have some snacks, and wait for the polls to close and a winner to be announced LATE, LATE, LATE in the night when McCain takes the stage victorious in Phoenix and Obama concedes in Chicago.
It’s the Freep cookie..?
I brake for PUMAs!
Liquor stores, too.

Hope this is true. I hate those Illinois Communists!
Record turnout where I voted and at the precinct I worked this afternoon in suburban Cook County. NO SIGNS or ELECTIONEERINg at either site by Dems! They must all be over in Indiana trying to steal that state. As I posted earlier—we must end “early voting.” My son voted early yet his information was still in the binder today, he could have voted twice. IS THIS GOING ON EVERYWHERE??
Just a CYA that is all, but then Obama may not lose...if you still live in a state that has it’s polls still open go vote and take others with you if possible...
