Man I love Ronald Reagan

Amen, brother. I’ve never found another public servant of his caliber, other than Barry Goldwater.

Excellent. I do wish someone would have made the person with the air horn swallow it.

How I miss that man. What a blessing he was for this nation. I really enjoyed watching the video.

I obviously have not followed all the young up and comers, but the only GOPer I can see that could lead a new conservative revolution is Bobby Jindal. I like Palin and it is possible she could do it, but I don’t know how this election will affect her...either win or lose. Even a McCain win leaves us with the need for the next generation leader. Palin will get a leg up with a win, but you never know how being VP treats you.

I also am not COMPLETELY sure she wants to go to the lengths it will take to build her own machine from scratch with a loss. It will come naturally with a win.

Other than those two....who has “it” ?

I have a question. This speech was at the 1963 Republican Convention. President Reagan was giving the speech in support of Berry Goldwater, who was the first candidate I ever campaigned for. I was 16 years old. Goldwater and that speech of Reagan’s started the conservative movement.

Question is, what was the Republican party about before that?

No it was 1980 at Detroit. I’ll never forget watching it on TV. Everyone the next day talked about how he said the federal govt needed to go on a diet. It was that revolutionary.

The republican party before Reagan held no conservative tradition, other than a fundamental belief in state’s rights and fiscal prudence. Barry Goldwater was the electoral embodiment of the intellectual conservatism of National Review, which advanced the Russell Kirk notion of what conservatism really is:

The negation of secular ideologies [fascism, statism, communism, socialism, environmentalism, etc]. Individual liberty over state encroachment.

Works everytime its tried, and it was tried at the highest levels to enormous success from 1980 forward.

If there is a new conservative banner-bearer, a new Reagan, they probably will never show up.

The hatred shown by The Left will have convinced him that this nation isn’t worth it.

Those who forget history...

I miss Regan. My only hope is after 4 years of the Big O, we will get another Regan era.
