I guess he doesn’t use the “Jr.” anymore. Somehow that make it even worse. It is so wrong to see that name coupled with an endorsement for Obama. Maybe that’s why he did it.
He’ll always be junior to me.
Fruit Loop
Tell me, Jr., are you a poofter?
Ummmm. Christopher Buckley is a very good, and very funny writer. Yes, he's endorsed BO, and fathered a bastard he has no intention of helping raise, so I'm willing to say he's neither politically, nor personally, his father's son. But he is still a darned good writer.
Little Ronny, on the other hand, fits the mold of Presidential sons. They are, by and large, a pathetic collection of dweebs, drunks, failures and suicides, who alternate between resenting their father's success, and trying to eek out a living off of it.
If I have any shred of sympathy for Little Ronny, it would be that it is unfair (as life often is), for a very ordinary man to be measured not on his own, but against the accomplishments of his extraordinary father.
When the first Duke of Wellington, the Iron Duke who beat Napoleon, then went on to be Prime Minister, died, his eldest son, Arthur, was distraught. A wellwisher tried to console him over his father's loss, only to have Arthur say is despair:
For the rest of my life, every time I enter a room, I'll be introduced as "The Duke of Wellington." Everyone will turn and look at me, and thier eyes will say, 'Oh, its only him.'
If you measure a man merely on one standard, yes, Buckley is a “darned good” writer. A redeeming quality in your eyes.
By that same standard, so was Jack Abbott a “darned good” writer.
Remember him? The guy who Norman Mailer (also considered a “darned good” writer by some) helped win a release from prison in 1981, who then, six WEEKS later, went on to commit ANOTHER murder.
Yup. Those “good” writers need to aspire to “darned good” writer status in order to overcome the disgraceful actions they have committed in the other parts of their life.
How come we are not filing election fraud charges. So many of Obama staffers voted more than once in several locations....?
