Well, thank you. It's the true American Way.
Too many folks are glib about the fundamental ideals of America. For me, it's in my bones. America isn't about what's in a person's DNA, it's about what's in their soul.
Teddy Roosevelt expressed the idea of a free people forswearing allegiance to the lands of their ancestors and becoming a new type of citizen. One that isn't based on race, creed, religion, or place of ancestral origin - but one based upon allegiance to an idea and an ideal. That is at the heart of what it means to be an American for me.
America is a uniculture - not a multiculture. E Pluribus Unum. Anything that conflicts with that is an enemy line, promoted to divide and weaken us. I will resist that enemy line for as long as I draw breath.
RCP is WORTHLESS, garbage in, garbage out.
This is incredible! Just as I was wondering why IA shifted Blue (damn you MSM), it is still very much in play for McCain, as are many other states
RCP merely shows the polls that have been published.
So I ask again, what poll shows McCain down only 1 point in Iowa?
bmflr
you said it ....if Bush and Cheney can pull off a win, then McCain and our SARAH should be able to win and win by a larger margin..
fraud is what it is.....we just have to get OUR people out there to vote....that vote can overwhelm any fraud period...
Scranton is coal country.....how could they vote for the fraudster?
All the more reason to get everyone you know out to vote this week for John McCain.
in 2000, I never went to sleep at all on election night......this is the same computer but at least now I have cable modem.....
I am a wreck...
You aren't my cousin, you are my clone.
My daughter had a friend who would come over to play when she was about 4. Her mother and I were sitting drinking coffee one morning, talking about the music that we both loved. Daughter and her friend were laying on the floor coloring. Two little heads bowed over the coloring books, two little white arms, two little black ones. She asked why Karen's arms were so dark. I told her that Karen had more melanin. She said, "Oh." That was the last question I remember her asking about color.
The next time skin color came into our lives that sticks in my mind was when we had moved to NC (FrogDad was Army). We were having dinner, our son (about 9 YO) said something and used the word "nigger." Dad struck him and told him he'd better never use that word in his house again. Only time I'd seen that. When I went and talked to son about it later, he told me he'd heard it at school (he certainly never heard it at home), that's what his two best friends called each other. Oh, boy, I had trouble explaining THAT one.
I hate that Obummer is making it seem like we hate him because of his extra melanin. We don't. We hate him for the content of his character.
welcome newbie.....sorry you missed the freepathon.......hope you stick around for the next one.....we’ll see.....
We may just pull this baby out.
Ha! ha! — The first bar I went to was the Beacon Hill Pub, described by the Boston Phoenix as a “scene, straight out of Star Wars.” — also Quincy, Dorchester and Brighton.
Don't Listen to the Media and Polls! Get Out There and VOTE! Turnout is KEY !!!!
My take is that the MSM / Lamestream Media is out to suppress the GOP vote.
They are WAAAAAAYYYY overpolling Democraps in their polls, IGNORING factual stories negative for Obama and doing EVERYTHING they can to SMEAR McCain and especially PALIN with their lies.
I think this will blow up in their faces. When GOP voters see the tainted polls slanted to favor Socialist Obama, the GOP fence-sitters will crawl across broken glass to KEEP the Socialist Obama outta the White House !!!
Here in Texas, the first day of Early Voting set ALL TIME records for turnout. ALMOST DOUBLE the old record (up almost 80%) !!!!
booooooooomp !!!!
LOL!! Cute! I would propose one doesn’t even need a brain to see that McCain is the RIGHT choice! : )
I'd hazard to guess that you and I are part of a clone army on this site. ;-)
Regarding kids and their color blindness .. I can recall with clarity that I didn't notice that I was any different from the rest of the kids in my neighborhood until about the age of ten, when some other kid brought it to my attention.
When he did that, I reacted to it as something of a curiosity, as in, "Huh - well whaddya know? That's kinda interesting."
I first experienced overt racism at the age of 13, when I suddenly encountered some among the local kids. Even then, I somehow overcame those assaults to my dignity with mind over emotion. These few incidents also occurred around the time of the Watts riots. I'm sure that these kids were only reacting to things they'd heard at home.
My family moved to the black civilian community in the late 60s. If I thought I'd experienced ostracism and discrimination in the mixed Army neighborhoods, I hadn't seen anything yet. My siblings and I battled overt black-on-black racism for years afterwards. It made my teen years one of the most stressful and confusing times of my life (and those years are already tough for anyone).
Thank God I had some solid core values to fall back on during those times. It's all that kept me sane. Through all of my personal social re-adjustments and the craziness of the late 60s, my bedrock foundations served me well. I can't say that I never took a wrong path, but I always managed to find my way back to the highway because I had an excellent moral compass to guide me.
I hate that Obummer is making it seem like we hate him because of his extra melanin. We don't. We hate him for the content of his character.
I've been telling other black folks to stop buying into the racism boogeyman. I remind them that the war for civil rights was waged 40 years ago, and we won.
But, there are still a lot out there who drink the poison Kool-Aid of the race baiters and dividers. The battle to debunk the catalog of liberal lies is where we are now.
All we can do it to teach our children what we know, and never fail to share our sane views with people we meet. It's going to take all of us chipping away at this problem until we tear it down.
