Story Highlights Giant effigy of Sarah Palin blown up at fireworks display in southern England

Caricature destroyed as part of traditional celebrations in town of Battle

Event believed to date back to 1646

BATTLE, England (CNN) -- Townsfolk in England have delivered their explosive verdict on Sarah Palin, stuffing a giant effigy of the U.S. Republican vice presidential nominee with fireworks and blowing her up to raucous cheers.

The unusual display was the climax of an annual bonfire celebration Saturday in the southern town of Battle, where political figures are a favorite target of a local tradition that sees a different icon destroyed each year.

This year's creation was a rather unflattering depiction of the self-declared "hockey mom," a machine gun brandished in her muscular arms, bright red lipstick surrounding a grimacing smile and a moose at her side.

Some how I doubt they would have the guts to blow up Mohammed. Englandistan has surrendered to Islamic and sharia. Surrendered 1,000 years of civilization without as much as a whimper.

Why do they feel so threatened, oh, thats right, they are overrun with islame. Good luck, English peoples, I will watch with amusement as your “civilisation” crumbles around you and you do nothing but suck your collective thumbs.

Everything they learned is what she said herself. The women obviously cheated her way out of of college. She knows nothing about what the VP does, thinks her First Amendment Rights are being violated when she is criticized and can’t name one Supreme Court Case. Despite not knowing this, she doesn’t mind have 150,000 blown on her looks? The ironic thing is, the only reason McCain is getting my vote is because Alan Keyes is running. At least I get to kid myself that I do have a choice, as I flirted with the idea of voting for Keyes yesterday. That made me feel better, so now I can go ahead and vote for McCain despite Palin!

This is just a deperate bid to help boost beer sales.

UK beer sales in decline
The Spoof

The British Beer and Pub Association (BBPA) said increased alcohol taxes was another reason for a sales slump equivalent to 1.8 million pints a day.

Overall sales from July to September fell by 7.2% - compared with the same period a year ago, the BBPA said.

Gordon Brown has taken the unprecedented step of setting up a task force to fight the problem.

"We will be recruiting some of the greatest drunks in the country to help bring about a revival in the industry." said Gordon Brown.

Britains top drunk Mr D.Runkard was too drunk to comment however his assistant Mr Al Kaholik said "Aarrggh besshmn shabbpl flnge grpple shmrn."

Some recommendations that have already been suggested are the introduction of a free pint for school children at lunch times, revamping the drink driving laws to make it illegal to drive sober and extra strength brands like Special Brew available on prescription.

If I had to guess, I’d speculate that this has something to do with Guy Fawkes Day (November 5), which is celebrated in England and New Zealand and Australia by burning an effigy on a bonfire and letting off fireworks.

If so, then everybody should settle down and lighten up already! This is perfectly normal behavior from Brits and they mean no offense by it. It’s just their version of Hallowe’en.

All in fun.

Did Savage really say that? I tried really hard to like the lady, in fact I did for a moment. But $150,000 story was too much for me, it pushed me over the edge. One good thing came out of yesterday though when I was convinced I was going to vote for Keyes, I talked two people out of voting for Obama because I finally was going to vote for someone who I wanted to. I was able to speak with conviction. I got my father to change his vote to McCain and my sister to switch her vote to Keyes, they were going to vote for Obama. So it served a purpose while it lasted. I could be wrong about Sara, but right now lets just say, I’m not one of her fans!

I could be wrong, who knows, she could be “Ronald Reagan in s skirt” but right now I don’t think so. I’ve got a news flash for you, it’s not sinful to be well educated and a Christian, it does happen. Keyes is a good example but I will vote for McCain. I can’t believe that the “$150.000 story” pushed you over the edge. Even the KoolAid-drinking, Obamacorn nutcases in the Obamedia realized how foolish it was after a day or two. That entire question was a gotcha and Palin knew it. No matter what case she might have cited would have been fuel to twist her agreement/disagreement. She did the only thing she could and didn’t name one. Just as she did about ‘what newspapers’ do you read.....if they ask most of us, we would have said the same thing...”ALL of ‘em!”

The $150,000 story pushed me over the edge too. I'm not going to take anymore Democrat BS without pushing back.

So, here's to you you old bag, Sarah was campaigning around the country in what she could bring in a small suitcase from Alaska.

The campaign decided to get her and her family who were accompanying her NEW CLOTHES so a friend of Katy Couric went out and bought a gazillion things for them to try on. Those that didn't fit went back.

The same people in charge of the "buying" appear to have charged some other things to those accounts that had nothing whatsoever to do with clothing, either for Governor Palin or her kids.

What it gets down to is someone out there has convinced you and other weak minds that the Governor and her children should campaign in the same clothes until they turn into rags.

I disagree with you and with them.

On the other hand you have Obama who has several closets filled to the brim with $5,000 suits and you didn't say a word even though he bought them with money stolen from the poor.
