Sen. Dick Durbin's oldest daughter dies
The Chicago Tribune ^ | Nov. 1, 2008 | Rick Pearson

Christine Durbin, the oldest daughter of Sen. Dick Durbin and his wife, Loretta, died Saturday from complications to a congenital heart condition, the senator's Washington office announced. Mrs. Durbin was one of three children in the Illinois senior senator's family and worked for 16 years in the Department of Agriculture's emerging markets division in Washington. In addition to her parents, a brother and a sister, she is survived by her husband, Marty Johnson, and a son, Alex. "Chris Durbin, 40, fought a heroic, lifelong battle with heart disease and our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Durbin family," the senator's office said in a statement. Her death comes only days before Durbin, who ranks second in the Senate Democratic leadership, seeks election to a third term on Tuesday's ballot. Durbin's office said funeral arrangements were pending.

I’m so sorry. No one should have to bury a child. Prayers for the family. A sad reminder of what is most important in life. Hint, it’s not politics. Lord, give this family comfort in their sorrow, in Jesus’ name.

It is a sad thing when a child dies before a parent. I don’t know if I could take that and the family has my deepest sympathy.

Amen.

There are two different Gospel accounts of the Parable of the Sparrows. Matthew 10:29, “Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father.” And Luke 12:6, “Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God?”

Meaning, there is a quantity discount for sparrows, making the fifth sparrow worth exactly zero. Yet, even the worthless sparrow doesn’t fall without God.

Take heart, fellow Christians. If you have a wayward child, even if he has made his life worthless, God is with him, even all the way to the bottom.

The Democrats have such sad stories of children dying. It is absolutely horrible.

Interesting, if true. Do other examples come to mind? Yet if the cornerstone of your political life is a determined effort to maximize the death of other people's babies, there has to be some blowback expected ... When I pray Psalm 137:9 for abortionists and their enablers, I do so from the perspective that Jesus is my Rock, and is willing to convert their children.

Yet the sparrow still falls. We live in a broken world and we can do nothing to change that.

Exactly. We still fall, and we still die . . . until the Messiah returns. Then there will be no corruption (no death).

Since turban's daughter was born, there have been over 48 million babies slaughtered.

Were their deaths any less tragic then his daughters.

She lived 40 years, they didn't get to live at all.

May she rest in peace, but don't forget the evil that her father has brought upon millions of innocents.

Well that just about ends any chance Sauerberg has at getting votes. His entire campaign has consisted of "I'm not Dick Durbin" (a la John Kerry's failed 2004 bid against Bush) and now he can't go on the attack.

He also seems to have missed the boat and failed to issue a press release on his website expressing his sympathies and prayers to Durbin's family at this time. It would have been a classy move and gained Sauerberg empathy by showing he cares about Durbin as a human being -- especially since Durbin is likely to get some sympathy votes due to his terrible family tragedy he's going thur. Sauerberg is politically tone deaf.

I just hope Marty Ozinga can pull off an win on Tuesday and keep Jerry Weller's seat in GOP hands. THAT race is neck and neck, and is a classic Reagan Republican vs. socialist Chicago machine Dem, but I fear all the freepers wasting their time trying to promote RINO Sauerberg's DOA campaign may have deprived Ozinga of the attention and resources he needs. Ain't RINOs great?
