Whites and Wal-Mart women give John McCain hope
timesonline.co.uk ^ | 11/2/08 | Tony Allen-Mills

Posted on 11/01/2008 5:40:05 PM PDT by melt

They have been sprouting across the front lawns of western Pennsylvania, just enough of them among the Hallowe’en ghouls and zombie decorations to give John McCain the ghost of a chance.

The signs read, “Another Democrat for McCain”. They are to be found at the homes of women like Eileen Kettelberg, a factory worker who has been a Democrat all her life but will not vote for Barack Obama because she believes he insulted Hillary Clinton – and, by extension, all Democratic women – by failing to pick her as his running mate.

There is another one outside Joyce Wiczorek’s home in Franklin. “I just don’t feel I know who Obama is,” the 57-year-old former teacher said last week. “With McCain and Sarah Palin, at least you know who you’re getting.”

There are other reasons why blue-collar Pennsylvania Democrats are considering a Republican vote this year. Some cite Obama’s liberal views on abortion and perceived antipathy to gun-owners. Others think that McCain, a Vietnam veteran, cares more about their sons and daughters who are serving in Iraq. Many are worried by McCain’s claims that Obama is a closet socialist who is planning to “punish the successful”.

Both Democratic and Republican officials suspect that at least some of these reasons are camouflage for racism. “There are still some people who have trouble voting for a person who is part African-American,” said Tom Balya, commissioner of Pennsylvania’s Westmoreland County, which is expected to vote for McCain even though 50,000 more Democrats are registered as voters there than Republicans.

Oh noes....the most 'hated' group in America come November 5 won't be WalMart women or NASCAR dads...nope. It shall be Pennsylvanians. PA going from blue to red will either put (or greatly help to put) JohnnyMc over the EC threshold. Thanks to Jack Murtha...whites in PA will be the 'flashpoint' of racism in America. We aren't/weren't smart enough to pick up 0bama's socialism...no...credit will be given for that. We are just racist rednecks. Forget the Terrible Towels at Steeler games...per the media, we should be waving white sheets and hoods.

And there are whites voting for Obama out of liberal "guilt", too. They do not look at his background, promises, or policies but vote for him just because he is "black." Blacks themselves I can see voting out of emotion and pride, but for white liberals to assuage themselves of their guilt for something their ancestors were responsible for 200 hundred years ago makes no sense. But, liberals being liberals, its all about emotion not intelligence.

I will bet anything this commissioner is a Democrat supporting Obama. Westmoreland County is heavily Democratic; I used to live there so I know. This creep is slandering any Democrat or Republican in western PA who has decided not to vote for Obama. This is the same slander that Murtha is peddling.

This entire article is a disgusting example of the elite media’s bias against blue collar voters and small town, western Pennsylvanians. I’m getting sick of the smear against hard-working, church-going, freedom-loving Americans who defend gun rights, are deeply patriotic, and are the kind of people making up the American armed forces.

Nothing Ticks me off more than ignorant statements like that. Only race baiters and American hating, Socialist foreigners say such retarded things, and of course white haters like Obama and his pal Rev. Wright.

As you said, WHITE USA is largely color blind, except for the reverse racism propagated by the elected members of the Democrat party, and black and other minority colors, who strangely? enough, are those who support those elected members of the Democrat party.

It is not the color of a man's skin that causes me to be suspicious and distrustful of someone, it is the color of their soul.

How is Berry Obama leading in all the polls if he doesn't have the support of so many democrats? I really believe the media is putting out fraudulent polls to discourage people from voting for Mccain. I'm going to predict that Mccain wins this election 60% to 40% and the republicans regain seats they lost in the last election.

Now, "racism" is the first ****ing thing out of their mouths.

thank you VERY much for posting the % of blacks per state. I was just asking for that on some thread.

I find it comforting that the states with the highest percentage of blacks are clearly in the red column (MS, SC, GA, etc). The states we’re ‘fighting over’ have low black populations comparatively speaking. So the black vote isn’t going to have much bearing on the outcome to me.

thoughts?

Whites and Wal-Mart women give John McCain hope

Seeing how well Wal-Mart stock has endured the current economic
turmoil...
they are afraid that an Obama administration might be a stake through
the heart of Wal-Mart.

(I don't remember the exact metric, but I think I heard Wal-Mart was

I'm sure they'll use that excuse when Obama loses. How then, will they explain it when the Republicans have their first black Presidential candidate, and if he or she is a conservative, gets all those same votes McCain will be getting this year? Will those former McCain voters still be racists because they didn't vote for the LIBERAL black candidate?
