Well, at least your son will be as well prepared for things as a person can get. And, he’ll have the back-up of his fellow “security” people.
But, your daughter-in-law and your grandson ought to head out to your place, even though your son can’t. There’s nothing he’ll be able to do for them if things creep up to their door.
In this case, it's a well-informed concern - not a needless worry. Tell him to get his wife and child over to your place, and knock off the tough guy bravado.
