It figures this b@st@rd would come slithering out again. His father, also Harold, was a major league commie radical in Roosevelt’s administration.

If Miss Shep Smith were on any other cable network he would have been cancelled. He.......sucks. FOX made him successful. He did not make FOX successful. Proof of this: What was the name of the woman(successful at FOX), who went to CNN, and hasn’t been heard from since?

“cold cocking this rat bastard”

lol. Got my laugh for the day with that one.

I know you were serious, it’s just that RB is one of my favorite terms. Still chucklin.

That’s because Rove is a toss-up IMO. For all the talk about this guy being a great mastermind, I sometimes seem him as a great disaster-mind.

I think Rove had a lot of luck a couple times, but everything else was just hype.

If Rumsfeld's resignation had been announced a few days BEFORE the 2006 election instead of the day after, that election would have certainly had a more favorable outcome.

Fifty-seven to be exact.

It must be fifty-nine. There were a couple where they wouldn't let him go (until Granny got sick, and there were records to seal). As of this moment I'm not sure who "they" are.

Since Obama is ahead by an infinite margin, it must be fifty-nine.

I laugh about it too. It was one of those right time at the right place, or wrong time at the wrong place, toss up moments. You take care.

I think you’re right. It was insulting to have him announce on the day after the election. If for no other reason than us looking like cold calculating bastards, it shouldn’t have been done that way.

It should have been done at least thirty days out, preferably before the election. Let folks know we’re willing to make changes when they are warranted. It would definitely help IMO.

Thanks WaggleBee...

Yep, if Rummy had resigned in early to mid October we would have probably kept the Senate and done better in the House. Resigning the next day just made him seem like some sort of sacrifice.

One thing that Bush has never seemed to understand is that at that level the public’s perception of appointees is the most important thing, that’s why there has always been a fairly high turnover for the secretaries of State, Defense, Treasury and Attorney General, other cabinet secretaries leave for any number of reasons but there is seldom any public demand for it. Gates isn’t doing anything that Rummy wasn’t going to do, it just seems that way to the public.

Fox n Friends is generally pretty good in the AM. And then it goes down hill all day.

Stuart Varney is in fine form today, subbing for Cavuto. Stu put the smackdown on Mike Papantonio, a real tool.

I agree. I’ll add that I think the public finds it refreshing when a cabinet official states that an adjustment in policy has been deemed necessary.

I’m not convinced Rumsfeld had to go. That being said, he may have been obstinate, and may have needed to go. I can’t know that.

If he had come out and said a surge was indeed necessary after all, he could have flowered up the announcement with comments like, “Losing is not an option. We are in this to the bitter end, for our friends in Iraq.” He would have come off sounding like a guy determined to stabilize Iraq for our friends. Most people would have gotten it.

You can’t keep the leftists happy no matter what, so we needn’t try.

Gates has been fine. We didn’t have to sacrifice Rumsfeld IMO. It is possible I am wrong, as in the scenario above though.

Take care.
