"Since coming to Washington, I've believed that the right approach begins with the proposal put forward by Senator Lieberman and Senator McCain," Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., said at Committee On Environment and Public Works hearing on January 30, 2007, "a proposal they've been pushing for years, and I thank them again for their leadership on this issue. The Lieberman-McCain Bill establishes limits for greenhouse gas emissions well into the 21st century. To remain below these limits, the bill encourages the market to determine how best to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, rewarding cost effective approaches using a system of tradable allowances."
The McCain campaign is using this riff in a new TV ad:
There are two schools of thought on this ad. One is that this helps McCain to show his opponent praising him on an issue that appeals to moderates and independents, that it helps undo the demonizing Obama has done.
The other is that this mis-reads the electorate, that one of the aspects of Obama voters like is that he praises Republicans. You may recall the myriad times during the first presidential debate when Obama agreed with McCain. The McCain campaign seized upon this as a weakness and released a web video. The Obama campaign said voters in their focus groups loved those "agreeable" moments of Obama's.
What do you think of the ad?

It would be better if it contrasts with one that McCain used earlier in the campaign showing Hillary, Biden and others saying Obama is not ready.
Well, it would make me less likely to vote for McCain because:
a) Global warming is a bunch of hype.
b) Obama is pure evil, so if Obama says something good about someone, it is a negative in my book.
I don’t know how swing voters might react though. My gut tells me it won’t help McCain much though and might even hurt. It actually makes 0bama look bipartisan, just when the truth that he is a radical, left-wing extremist has started to sink in, with the electorate.
Meh.. Waste of money IMO.
Hit Obama on his lying.
McCain should have put a commercial together with Bambi's comments about “Not wanting to punish his Girls with a baby” followed by 20 seconds of adorable baby pictures. “A Punishment Mr Obama?”
Yea, this is a stupid ad.
I don’t care that Obama is being courteous of McCain.
Agreed, Mc Cain should be going for ‘gut’ shots...
This hugs n’ kisses crap is for ‘the don’t ask don’t tell crew.

Whoo hoo! The most liberal Senator in the country thinks John McCain has the right approach! Maybe some undecideds will think that’s great but if I didn’t fear Obama so much, such an ad would just remind me of why I don’t much like McCain.
I like it. The Messiah handing down praise to McCain! Who are we to argue with the Messiah’s own words?
I think that is an effective ad. I also like the one with the attractive woman (who is a PUMA) endorsing McCain.
El Rushbo on Nobama...
...the Lord Messiah, the merciful, the acting President
That ad would have hurt McCain in the primaries.
This ad is a waste but if McCain has money to waste I suppose we can say “Why Not?”. lol
Rush bump.

I think McCain wants to lose when he floats ads like this.

Let's see: McKook vs. Dangerous Marxist Lunatic.
Wait. It's not difficult after all.

Global Warming on Free Republic
It sucks, it should be pulled immediately.
After getting more support from his base recently (Zogby even had him ahead in the popular vote for Friday’s polling), McCain pushes them away again (Zogby - McCain losing big-time in Saturday’s polling). The global warming hoax is a leftists ruse to create more political power and corruption. McCain is losing because he’s still running on the Republican ticket as a Democrat.
I want ads with a big long list of the taxes Obama has said he wants to increase. A reminder of it being the last thing we can afford in this economy. Evey ad that’s not about that is a waste and a wasted opportunity, in my view.
troubling post !
But truthful......
