Barack Obama will need help in a crisis, says Joe Biden (OBAMA-BIDEN RIFT?)
The Times ^ | October 21, 2008 | From The Times

Joe Biden, the Democratic vice-presidential nominee, has told Americans to expect a “major international crisis” that will present an early test of a Barack Obama administration.

His comments were seized upon by the Republican campaign yesterday to raise fresh doubts about the prepared-ness of Mr Obama to be commander-in-chief.

Speaking at a fundraiser in Seattle on Sunday night, Mr Biden said: “Mark my words, it will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking. We’re about to elect a brilliant 47-year-old senator president of the United States of America. Remember I said it standing here . . . we’re gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy.”

He cited Russia and the Middle East as possible places that may cause problems, as well as the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan – “crawling with al-Qaeda” – as being of particular concern.

Mr Obama would need help and support, Mr Biden suggested, “because it’s not gonna be apparent, initially, that we’re right.” He then spotted the media in the room, “I probably shouldn’t have said all this because it dawned on me that the press is here.”

John McCain told a rally in Belton, Missouri: “The next President won’t have time to get used to the office. We don’t want a President who invites testing from the world at a time when our economy is in crisis and Americans are already fighting in two wars.”

~~~
Democratic strategists dismissed suggestions that Mr Biden, the chairman of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations who has a habit of making minor gaffes, had erred again by drawing attention to the threat. ...
Did Biden's gaffe, now a McCain ad, cause a rift between Obama and Biden?
I notice there's an Obama ad trying to gloss over this very troubling statement by Biden.
Obama's response ad look like damage control. In the last paragraph they tried to dismiss it but I noticed that the Obama camp put out an ad in response to the McCain ad pretty quick.
Wonder if Biden’s big mistake in saying this cause Barry extra heartburn?
It only shows that Biden knows Obama has zero qualifications or experience to be President.
And America’s enemies know it too.
I don’t doubt it. Obama has never managed a 7-11, let alone any economy of any size. Not a city or state.
But Gov. Palin has and she’s 10 times better qualified than Barry O.
Billy Clinton was really driving it home on Obama, too, with some back handed “compliments” about his “knowledge” about the economy, saying he was seeking advise on the economy because he needed to know what to do.
Quinn and Rose had the sound bites this morning.
Slick Willy is a McCain plant. I swear it.
This showed up in an ad for McCain on TV in the Raleigh area last night. The ad used the actual Biden audio. It was a welcome sight to see somebody other tham Obama on my TV.
I saw on TV that some Hillary supporters are going to write her in.
Yeah, help Barry, folks. Sheesh.
Of course this is where you see George StepinObamalous who is an obvious Obama kool-aid drinker. I think it was ABC.
The help and patience with Obama that Biden is referring to is to the those that will be concerned when Zero takes away our freedoms in the name of security. Press, assembly, religion, speech? Not if they disagree with Zero.
It is not patience with Zero's ability to deal directly with the crisis.
This may be a tin-hat idea but it has been on my mind since Biden first said Obama would be tested.
Could it be possible that Obama would ask for U.N. forces to “protect” the U.S. after an attack?
The U.N. certainly loves Obama — and he claims he’s a “citizen of the world”
I saw that, too.
I only get the local stations on the TV in my bedroom so I’m forced to watch Good Morning America every morning while getting ready. Georgie drives me nuts with his ****-eating grin every time he talks about Obama.
And don’t get me started on Diane Sawyer...
And Bubba said Obama didn’t know sh** about economics...
Like Obama does?
BTW, Bill Clinton's economic record isn't anything to brag about either:
During the election cycle of 1992, Bill Clinton hammered Bush the elder relentlessly for having caused the “worst economy of the last 50 years.” But in fact, as CNN’s Brooke Jackson subsequently reported in 2001: “Three days before Christmas 1992, the National Bureau of Economic Research finally issued its official proclamation that the recession had ended 21 months earlier. What became the longest boom in U.S. history actually began nearly two years before Clinton took office.”
By the same token, Clinton is generally perceived as having a stellar economic record during his own presidency, in spite of the fact that the economy was already starting to decline during the last year of his term after the stock market crashed in March 2000. According to a report by MSNBC: “The longest economic expansion in U.S. history faltered so much in the summer of 2000 that business output actually contracted for one quarter, the government said Wednesday in releasing a comprehensive revision of the gross domestic product. Based on new data, the Commerce Department said that the GDP — the country’s total output of goods and services — shrank by 0.5 percent at an annual rate in the July-September quarter of 2000.”
When GW Bush correctly warned the American voters about the nation’s declining economic performance during the 2000 presidential campaign, the same Democrats who had loudly criticized his father for “the worst economy in fifty years” had no problem at all accusing him of “talking down the economy.”
Same with Jeremy Hubbard and Vinita Nair on ABC World News overnight. EVERY night they get all warm and fuzzy over Obamessiah. The camera on some openings does a slow pan down from a message board where some negative or forced non-issue to appear negative about McCain-Palin appears. I’ve seen it multiple times. This is no accident.
Then there’s Terry Moran, Judy Woodruff, Gwen Ifill, Brian Williams, Meredith Viera, Matt Lauer, Charlie Gibson, etc. etc. etc. et al ALL in the tank for Obama and spinning every story they can FOR Obama and AGAINST McCain-Palin.
If 0 wins (The Lord in Heaven please help us!) we will no longer be American citizens according to him, we will all be “citizens of the world”. (And I'll have a theory I'll be running by you after the election.)
We already know this, Joe, as corroborated by Bubba himself. I can only imagine that if an economic crisis necessitated Obam-uh calling on several people, surely a national security crisis will necessitate the calling on of at least 25 people, while the nation writhes. He’s a winner, alright. Sit down, Joe!
I saw an ad here in Virginia yesterday where they’re trying to cover for Biden’s statement, saying it was ‘taken out of context’.
They say that after these statements he followed up with, “and this guy will handle it with a spine of steel’, or some similar comment. I was laughing too hard to get it verbatim.
The more I look at this, the more convinced I am that the vestiges of the radical 60’s movement has put up an affirmative action cokehead with the gift of gab as the frontman for a criminal enterprise masquearding as a Marxist movement to be President of the United States.
In other words, how does the vast left wing conspiracy tap the US Treasury for their own gain while creating an egalitarian society?
Yes, Biden’s “steel in his spine” about Obama is laughable.
I guarantee you Pooty-Poot was rolling on the floor on that one. He knows better. So do the mullahs in Iran.
And the danger with an untested goon like Obama is that they can overreact, too. He is not prepared to face these people. Especially if he thinks he can just sit down and chat it all out. Noob idiot, this Obama is.
And he’s playing games with 300 million lives here in the U.S.A.
